    This

Now we have a big that can't be pushed around and is only 23 YO

Amazing that Rob was able to pull this off

Now we need to keep Williams healthy for this to work

And his contract is team friendly for a few years

Some good stuff from Trevor, shows that in December he wasn’t playing as many minutes, dragged his overall averages down, because in January he averaged around 19/11.5/1.3 blocks.

Do we see the "low effort" thing though? Apparently it's a thing with him?

Need that veteran mentorship from those 2

JJ has all the ingredients now and needs to balance the minutes and bring this all together

Another championship is in view everybody

    Go Lakers!

Probably referring to this where the Hornets were getting blown out and the whole team seemed to give up on the game.

I’m not concerned about that given the leaders of this team.

He's playing in a team that literally doesn't want to win. That seats him, Ball and Miller regularly so that they're not strong enough to win.
After the initial shock because I was really not expecting it, it's a great trade. He's really good and fits perfectly our on-court strategy and long-term planning.
He's a great rebounder, protect the rim and rolls. Great fit to Luka. To be seen how his defense holds. He had some nice advanced stats but to be seen how it works in a winning team.
His extension only kicks after Bron last year (supposedly). We may sign someone first with cap space and then re-sign him.

The only caveat is his back. Let's see in the next few months if it was only because of the tanking or if there's something wrong there.

Curious we have sent Cam instead of Wood or Hayes. May indicate some confidence on Vando

Wow, why did they trade Mark Williams to us, are they insane? This kid is 23, improved every year. He can currently produce around 15/9 on "motor" only, one of the longest guys in the league, protects the rim beautifully, even passes from the post. I did not know he was available. Dude just recently had an (almost) 40/10 game, everyone was talking about it.

they always do this while i'm sleeping. bullet point thoughts:

-i think it's strange that most fans knew who kessler was but not williams. if you like kessler, you should like williams, who may be better, tbh. guessing we'll find out what danny's price was for kessler at some point; be curious to see.

-like others said, i just assumed he wasn't available after richards was moved.

-i would have paid knecht and a 1st for kessler (and probably gone to a swap to get that done, too), so i'm not too shocked at the price. i was early on the knecht train, and i still like him, but his defense was problematically bad, and we had other guys ahead of him. i think he can put up some numbers in charlotte and will fit well with ball and miller and bridges. i just couldn't see him slotting into a win-now team these next couple of years.

-the injuries are indeed a concern, and no, the lakers saying they're confident in the medicals does not allay my fears. IF he's able to play 70 games a year going forward, this is a steal. and if you were interested in robert williams, he was even more dangerous in this regard, imo.

-we have the last half of this year and maybe into next year to evaluate both his motor and his health before we have to make contract choices, so that's good. worst case, we'll head all the way into RFA, which is less scary these days as fewer and fewer teams have cap space. also, his salary wouldn't balloon until lebron was likely retired, so we're not in danger of entering warriors territory, luxury tax-wise.

-this obviously isn't as shocking as the luka deal, but i continue to be surprised at how aggressive we've been. i was one who was saying i was sure we were calling folks (which we obviously were), but rob really was ready to empty the full chamber to improve the team.

Yeah we are all in now. Which I love as I’ve wanted this approach for a couple of seasons.

I guess the issue was that we just didn’t believe in AD as the next guy to lead the franchise.

Go back to bed, deadline is in a matter of hours and Rob needs a couple more things.

We play the Jazz more + Team USA exposure.

And yeah, we got nothing but time on our side with this eval. Also with Luka's medical team coming in, maybe we now have an in house second set of eyes/ second opinion.

i think we just knew that AD would be 32 next year. 26 year old AD could have led the franchise, imo.

we (wisely) kept the powder dry for when a big opportunity came (imagine we make the moves people were screaming about and then watch luka and fox get traded for things we had...), and then jumped in with both feet.

Great prospect, smoked Kessler head to head last month, if he gains a little weight and can stay healthy, high ceiling young big.
