Caruso had a nice jump his sophomore year: slighly above league average TS% and his defensive and offense box plus/minus were 0. If he shot more 3's his numbers would have been better but overall he played like a league average PG in his limited minutes. That may sound like faint praise statiscally but with all the money tied up and talent in AD/Lebron plus Kuzma/Boogie/Green getting a leage average guy who hasn't reached his peak is going to be critical. Particularly when you compare his numbers to how bad the box +/- was for Rondo and really bad for Cook. Wouldn't surprise me if Caruso and Bradley eat up most of the PG minutes
I sure hope Caruso will be a focal point in the PG rotation, he can shoot the ball, drive in the lane not afraid of the big fellas in there. Give the man proper minutes with our improved bigs this season and he will flourish tremendously.
His 3 point shooting isn't 48% good...he made 24 of 50. That sample size is just way too small and that figure way too high. The year before he was 13-43 (.302). He is probably not that bad either...if he is above 38% on decent volume, thats a major plus for us.
Caruso inspires middle aged white men everywhere to continue their athletic careers. Hair loss doesn't mean you can't be a baller.
I am praying that Caruso can continue to impress and get better, even though he's a known quantity now and will no longer be sneaking up on teams. The less we see of Rondo, the better.
Caruso was a good signing to maintaining depth. I agree with the assessment of his value on the floor but he's a "key" to what?
I hope he beats out everybody and is our starting PG. I also hope Rondo doesn't see a single minute on the floor.
Me too. If you look at the upside, should we see an improved AC over the incredible run he had for him at the end of the season, that is now a starting caliber PG often depending on matchups or always. Why not? Improved handles .... easy if he worked as you would expect he worked over the summer, plus now we have Phil Handy. AC already took care of the ball pretty damn well. Slightly improved defense easy if he worked as you would expect plus we now have Frank Vogel's coaching staff. AC was already average to pretty decent on D. Same size. Gotta Love 6'5" point guards. Maybe a little stronger and a little more athleticism and strength if he worked as you would expect. He was already surprisingly adequate to decent with his athleticism and now we have Judy Seto back. Maintain that over 40% from 3 point territory. Zero reason to think he can't since he blew 40% out of the water with a real nice sample size against good teams at the end of the season once he got playing time, and now we have Lethal Shooter on the staff. I hope they let him compete for the PG position when LeBron's out of the game.
