seriously, don't watch the clips above and then flip to THT/nunn/monk reacting to screens...it's traumatic. i'm told these things don't matter, though, because caruso's crossover isn't "sick".
Bad decision. We'll know what transpired. I personally doubt THT will ever be this good of a defender. Let's hope his offensive production is big enough to offset that.
Just delete this thread. Unbelievably moronic decision. You know what....I'll be the first one. f*** Westbrick for driving AC out of town. #notmylaker
Call me crazy but I'd rather have Caruso over THT. THT may have more upside, but there's no telling if he'll ever reach that. Caruso is the better player at the moment and arguably harder to find a guy that does his intangibles compared to what THT brings.
I don’t think that’s crazy at all. AC ahead of him in a number of key, important areas and still improving. Taller, better vertical, arguably better athlete, better shooter, better defender and better anticipation and feel for the game both sides of the ball. Anyone ever notice that THT, for a guy with that freak wingspan and only an inch shorter than AC …. often barely gets over the rim on his one handed dunk attempts? Maybe a timing thing but AC still has him on vertical game offense and defense currently.
Caruso will never be the 3rd or 4th best guy in a contender team. He is a glue guy. THT have the potential to be that 3rd star so that's a bet you have to do. Caruso is perfect for our roster now but moving forward is a liability at that 10mil, even as a trade asset. With THT you're buying the upside and still getting a good trade asset if we feel he'll not reach it. A bit like Kuzma. It's a smart business decision With how rosters are being built, you can't have more than 4 guys making over 10mil if you have 2 or 3 superstars. You sure one of them should be Caruso?
Well, he makes under 10, and tht makes more and contributes less. How many years do you wait? What if the contract ends before tht catches up?
If we feel in the next 2 years that THT will not be the guy we think he can be, you trade him. I can see a few teams taking that leap as he will be 22 still with lots of upside. He can be a centerpiece in a trade for a win-now guy. Caruso can't. It's about roster and cap management, managing a franchise is not only on what players allow us to win next Tuesday When I said over 10mil I was referring to around 10mil mark. If you play 2 (or 3 like us) max contracts you can only have 2 (or 1) contract on that region. I understand that we choose THT over Caruso.
