In that they play defense. Other than Marion and sort of Bell nobody did.

You've yet to prove the conspiracy which would all such treatment that every other player, in the 60 years of the NBA has not had. Not even a theory why he gets super duper mega ultra star treatment.

He averages 22 a games when gets to the line less the 10 times. He's done it 30 times this year and scored at least 25, a number of them going 30 or more. His team 19 and 9 which is on pace for wins 57 . I guess if you're going to take all of his FTs away because he doesn't deserve them, well, then you've got me there. If anyone has got a hard on for him, it's you. Btw, I'm sure him shooting 24% from 3, which has nothing to do with FTs has nothing to do with cold streak.

they were a better defensive unit, statistically, and marion and bell were much better defenders than anyone on the current rockets squad. also, nene the defender? really?

can't believe i'm still dealing with this lame strawman. nobody needs to prove anything about why, just that. he gets unbelievable treatment from the officials. denying that at this point is sort of sad.

sooo...he averages around 20ppg when he shoots under ten fts? and this refutes anything i've ever said about harden...how?

makes me think the only reason he's not getting his fts in those wins is that they were blowouts a la game 1 of the spurs series.

i'd take 4-5 FTAs per game away, based on the games i can bear to watch of this travesty. that's enough to make him look pretty ordinary--not an mvp candidate, not an all-nba player, but an occasional allstar.

yeah...you're the only one defending him against all (reasonable) attacks and then randomly popping up to try to stick it to people with irrelevant arguments.

i don't know, were some of those misses uncalled FT-baiting attempts? fg% is directly affected by bs foul calls. his fg% is artificially inflated as a result. maybe under everyone else's rules, he's a 29% 3 pt shooter?

Nope, he's career 37% from 3. And I guess you missed the part where over half of those games he score over 25, often 30 or more. Pretty impressive to do with less FTs and less time to score that many points. The fact that you think someone with one of the top usage % in the league is going to average odd. He averaged 6 as a third option in okc, or maybe he was just warming up the refs at that point.

But my post was, "Yeah those are garbage calls. I'm not sure if they're intentionally biased towards because I've seen no evidence why the league would anoint him their next MJ. Anyway, just like the league started cracking down on flopping in the more traditional sense, this is going to be spotlighted enough so that'll have to do something." I don't see me defending him at all. But it's not a strawman just because you no answer to it. Either the league and the refs are conspiring for him, and him alone, to get those calls, or Harden himself is paying the refs. You just don't pull a 6th man from OKC, who had a terrible finals and landed not in one of the big 3 or 4 markets, on a team that hadn't made it the conference finals in 17 years, and you, James Harden, can get all the bad calls you want. You're just so marketable, we have to make you the MVP.

On the defense note, collectively they one of the best defensive pg's in the, one of the best shot blockers in the league, a very good swing and yes, Nene. Who I'll any day over Amare, Steven Hunter, and Diaw. I think as bad as Harden is on D, hes still better than Nash, and I'd even take Ryan Anderson over Amare. But that's a whatever argument I'm not going to take the energy having.

Btw, I really hate even partially defending this. I don't like team he's played for, his stupid beard, his total not caring on defense and flops which have not only been exaggerated but the ref's fault any, which is why I'm trying to figure out why, supposedly, is the only one getting them. I feel like I'm defending a politician I hate because the vitriol has gone too extreme.

James Harden is a great player. I'm not even sure how that's even debatable. He's one of the best players in the league and is very deserving of the MVP award.

you missed the point of that rhetorical question.

and i guess you don't understand what averages are and the implications for what's going on in the other half of your arbitrarily chosen small sample.

claiming that someone scored 25 points 9 times while shooting less than 10 fts is damning their mvp case with faint praise.

don't understand this. are you saying that he did or did not get calls before? i'm not sure it matters either way, though, as i'm talking about the time since he's been in houston. and you're REALLY REALLY REALLY hung up on explanations (why does james harden get historically unprecedented treatment from officials) when you're supposed to be disputing descriptions (that harden gets historically unprecedented treatment from officials). i'm not sure i can make this much clearer.

    let me help:

A straw man is a common form of argument and is an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while refuting an argument that was not advanced by that opponent.

you keep attacking a conspiracy theory i'm not advancing. can't get any more "strawman" than that.

we can ask why harden gets that call and basically nobody else does, but the central is question is whether he does. and he does. the next question is "does this artificially inflate his efficacy?", and my answer to that is also yes. the first question is really easy to answer; the second is debatable, but my stance is pretty clear: the bs officiating makes him a better player than he is. without the bs officiating, he's not a top-tier nba player.

again, not dignifying with response. if you want to argue that he's officiated just like anyone else, i'll bite. i'm not going to get into the conspiracy angle. i don't know or care why; the league just needs to fix it. if and when they do, i predict harden stops being a superstar.

hmmm...you'd think houston would be a) better defensively or b) better overall than those phx teams. and they're not.

James Harden 3-17 shooting, 6 free throws, Rockets lose big. I don't see the argument here. When you take away his 20 fta it hurts his game big time, because often he won't shoot well, but he'll have 16, 19 fta and so he'll get his 30-some points.

5 min? Away, the title says it all. Kobe is helping a C bag. Thought that would be blasphemous *shrug.

Nah, it's no big deal. I like Thomas, he's an underdog story, he's not a piece of s*** C bag like Paul Pierce. If someone can be helped by Kobe to even have a chance to take out LeBron in the East, I'm all for it. Kobe has shared knowledge with guys all around the league, I don't care if it's a C bag this time, especially since Thomas wanted to be a Laker and it's our fault he's not.

The 2 Kellys in a flop-off, not exactly 80's-'90's rough playoff basketball resurrected.
