Bosh kept Miami from being overwhelmed by Dallas and was great the following year against OKC. Then, he saved their behinds against San Antonio with a key rebound setting the stage for Allen. Bosh made timely plays. On topic... What Golden State needs is a physical, back to the basket inside scoring presence. If they had a Griffin...they would be even more difficult to stop.
Warriors are so fortunate... http://www.si.com/nba/2015/06/11/jerry-west-nba-finals-golden-state-warriors The Logo. Still driven as ever...and brilliant as hell.
At the time, with Kupchak overseeing matters and...Jackson lording over the place, West didn't think there was much for him. It's OK...we have Ryan. From the article, West doles out free advice no matter who it is so pops is a phone call or text away. Even Johnson has a need to at least have a conversation with him. The sections on how he worked with Barnes, his thoughts on Green...so illuminating. And how balanced the squad is at all positions has his fingerprints all over it. As astute a coach Jackson is, I doubt he could put together a solid combination of stars and workers like it. Warrior management don't know how good they have it. He's a man of integrity. I will never, ever forget West coldly staring down Stern at Buss' funeral, talking how honest Buss was compared to the others the commissioner cowtowed to like Sarver and Gilbert. I think Golden State could be his last stop. Double 7's... When Kupchak steps down and Ryan West takes over then maybe, just maybe there's a chance.
^^^ I vaguely remember something about him and Stern confrontation at the Buss funeral. This Warriors team reminds me of the Lakers from 93 to 98. Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Ceballos, Elden Campbell and then Kobe and Shaq joining them.... just a fun team to watch. With their style of play compared to todays game, I wonder how they would've done.
The similarities are there... Young, brimming with promise and loads of enthusiasm. Difference being that Van Exel and Ceballos were a touch belligerent. Back then it was a physical time. No doubt they would have racked up wins and style points today. West assembled that squad too. Line them up against each other, our boys would have annihilated this Warrior team. Lee might me leaving but I wouldn't put it past West to find and convince a proven, capable veteran to replace him. Barbosa, Livingston...he has the touch to find reclamation projects that contribute.
Agreed...though Lee will have to play back-up again to young Randle. I don't think he'd want to reprise that role again. After getting his hardware, now it is about the $$$, security and playing time. Gotham looms...
I read this when the Finals was just starting and I can only imagine how painful and stressful I'm sure it was for Jerry to watch some of these games in the Finals when he knows his this team is better than the Cavs. He was one of the people I was thinking about when the Warriors had their trophy ceremony inside the Cavs arena. Jerry deserves it all and I couldn't be more happy for him.
I've never heard anyone say that about the Zen-Master. West did say Jackson was a weird person. Every time those two are within the same vicinity, the awkwardness is palpable. Now the former can zing the latter after the Warriors taking the chip. I am intrigued as to how Jackson will revitalize the Knicks...with Dolan and Thomas in the periphery. Fun times ahead in Gotham.
I'll always respect the Zen man for his 11 rings, and I'll always be appreciate the 5, count 'em 5 banners he added to our rafters. But, that said, he drove Jerry West away from the Lakers and I'll never forget that.
wow... JR, Klay and Steph were all cool with the fool. Bron was trying to be all serious like he is about the biz. smh.
Oh, did the Warriors win the championship this season? You wouldn't know it if all you watch is ESPN, all they talk about is LeBron and Blatt. The Warriors have been a non-story, almost zero coverage of them once they finished off the series.
