How are we supposed to win a title without a legit starting center? I’m a very optimistic fan, but you also have to be realistic.

It's the opportunity cost of pursing another trade for a center, not really about Williams here. Also, Luka specifically asked for it.

I blame our FO for not doing their real due diligence on his health just as much as I blame the Hornets for making a broken player available in a trade.
I mean, did our FO just take their word for it? Was there no way for them to ensure that he was good to go before they agreed to the trade?
Someone really failed at their job in this process.

you can't get your doctors to check another team's player ahead of time.

Well yes kind of DUH, until he came out here so our doctors could examine him. That's how trades typically work unless you're in the same city. And they didn't announce it until time was almost up. Sorry for the attitude but man if you're going to start up on the front office again at the drop of a hat without the facts?

Honestly this situation just seems like the Hornets suck as franchise and tried to scam us out of a young player and picks.

not sure it makes practical sense, and as LT said, this was last-minute. sucks, but it is what it is.

yeah, it's possible, but it's also possible we did a more thorough exam than they would as part of their routine. we're the ones investing the future assets; they had already invested. they might have done something like this prior to contract negotiations, though--not sure how teams operate in these cases.

i'm super bummed, though. on paper, he's the guy. and we got him. will be watching with great interest going forward.

He most definitely was not the guy because he’s damaged goods.
Yeah, maybe his “type” is the answer, if we can find one that is healthy this summer.

    f***ing f***

That sucks. Rob said multiple teams called him too after the Luka presser, wonder what we turned down to make this temp trade.

f*** Charlotte. This is the last time we trade with them and I'm sure any other team is going to be leery of their shady practices.

For the medicals to check out and the physical not to, I really am curious as to what kind of stuff he's got going on. Typical 7-2, 10 ft wingspan, too big of a human stuff?... knees, hips and feet?

Now we have to find a center when there's nothing out there. Really limits our ceiling this year when our center position is full of 3rd string and G-League guys.

We can either waive Reddish and get someone at a buyout market -- and there's no one better than Jax there, so we'd be buying strictly for the playoff depth -- or we wait until this summer when we have an extra pick to use.

We still got plenty to win this season. We seem to be doing pretty well, and the reinforcement known as Luka is just about ready. He was a bonus and a future guy. Hayes has picked it up and we will get woods back in time to get somewhat ready for the playoffs. LeBron can be a rebounding machine if needed, especially Luka taking a load off offensively. Our defense is going to get us there and we still have our assets.

Thank you. This sudden now we have NO chance isn't warranted with the talent about to take the floor for us with top notch scheming and coaching. Sure made things a bunch harder though and much longer odds against it. What sucks most too is not having that roster spot. I wonder if doing like a 3 year stretch on the remainder of a minimum salary wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to add someone important (for our needs) in a buy out?

^ Why stretch a minimum salary over 3 years when you can just waive a player and be done with it? We free up a roster spot and someone like Cam Reddish orWood's contract come off the books after the season ends.

Agreed. This sucks in terms of timing and logistics, but we're doing great right now and we'll figure something out. I am absolutely sure of it. Yes, it's a bummer, but Rob will fix it somehow.
