I’d let him go for Markieff Morris who the Pelicans traded for and waived yesterday. Morris can play small ball 5 and stretch the floor too.

Not to mention, he’s a Klutch guy.

you wouldn't need to, we have a roster spot open and Kieff has some very serious nerve problems

I was assuming that spot would be for Melo, as much as we wouldn’t want to, or at least Wayne Ellington.

I think Kieff and Klutch might have leaked that so they waive him or so he doesn’t have to play.

I’d like to think I came up with this nickname in game time chat, so I’ll take full credit for that. :p

As for the actual move, I’m not down on it despite my comments and making fun of his name in the past. It’s just, as others here have already said, if we wanted a big that could stretch the floor, Lopez wanted to come back here and we could have had him for what we paid Beasley. The FO made a mistake there, but they can’t say that, so this trade is the best admission they can make. At least it worked out for Brook though, he’s on the team with the best record in the league. Hopefully Marsala can give us the occasional good game and some shooting and versatility on defense when we need it.

The chicken Marsala nickname is so lazy and lame that it's hilarious. I keep laughing and almost waking up my sleeping 10-month old (on my lap). If I tell my wife why, the look might kill me.

    I should sign off.

Just to make more people upset:

There is an alternate world where...

Brolo stays, and our center rotation is Brolo / McGee

We don’t spring for Chandler, and LBJ doesn’t use the James Jones trap card. Not yet at least.

Without the league at arms, AD/Rich Paul do their thing, maybe successfully. Maybe. (They should have made this public months ago anyway)

OR LBJ uses the trap card for Trevor Ariza.

I can’t say it’s all bad because I prefer Chandler to Lopez. But yes, losing Zu sucks.

    Yeah, I’m bored.

Horrible trade. Bease was not bad from the bench- like 7 pts in 12 minutes, could create his own shot. Zu had great games and bad games, but when he did have great games he was very good. Muscala- I dunno- what if he suddenly becomes our new Radman with a 40% from 3?))))

`All depends on who we pick up off of Waivers & if they help us make a Playoff push..

As I see it, they were giving Zu playing time to raise his trade value. They had no intention of re signing him next Year. Their trade attempt fell apart & they decided at the last minute to move him out now in order to open a roster spot. Sucks, but that's what it is.

    We'll see if it works.

Love the Bullock trade. This one, not so much. It’s not enough to say, well it opens up a roster spot and he’s a shooter.

We could’ve just as easily cut Beasley to open the roster spot. Muscala is a “shooter” who is shooting 39% from the field and 35% from three. Yeah he’s shot better in the past few years so maybe he’s in a slump and picks it back up. But I don’t know if I would bank on that.

At his best, Muscala seems like what Wagner would be if he was a more consistent part of the rotation. Would have made so much more sense to just cut Beasley and give Wagner more time to develop. Not really sure why we haven’t to be honest. He’s looked good when he’s out there and has shot the ball well. We shouldn’t be doing the whole “make rookies earn it” kinda thing. If we get Wagner to start playing well now that’s another big trade asset to have a productive stretch big man on a rookie deal. Muscala might have a bit more experience but it’s not like there’s much room in the rotation for him anyways and I highly doubt he’s back next year.

And I have to believe we could have got more value back for Zubac. Dude has been playing very well so I’m sure there must have been an offer out there to at least get a second round pick back for him.

I’ll root for Muscala to prove me wrong, but this trade doesn’t make sense.

Well on the glass half full side (pay attn @Khmrp :)) he's shot well higher than that in the past so should be doable and Rob mentioned some PF possibilities too. When we go Big.

They should have had Zu working on 3 point shots while he was not playing. As mentioned before when he first came to the Lakers he didn't have bad looking form. They could have incentivized him to stay late and do it on his own time. Especially while he was recovering from his late summer illness following the tournament he was in. You want to play, then give us something from outside too. Of course he would have busted his a** to do that to earn playing time. Calling it now .... Marc Gasol 2.0 potentially in 3 more years considering Marc was like 24 and chubby when we traded him for Pau. And now Zu is a f****** Clipper because the Lakers brought in Beasley instead of keeping Brook for the same money. New start, no worries about being traded, watch Zubac BALL out for them even this year now.
