I read the quotes yesterday but its another thing to see video and get more context that way. He seems like he's grown up for sure and is more mature. Nice to see.
There are absolutely no issues with Beasley at this point in his career. I can definitely see him being useful this season. He is a solid scorer off the bench, and he's matured for sure.
I really don't get the hate for this guy, yes he does weed (most athletes do) and got caught. He's young and charismatic, he's a good backup plan to Randle with no worry about playing time and can score off the bench
Agreed, Beas can score and has talent. Problem is his inattentiveness on the defensive end. However, motivated vets can certainly improve in that department. It's one of the easier fixes really as it has more to do with increasing attention and effort than skill. A player can buckle down and become better on D with consistent work on that end. It seems like Beas wants to be taken more seriously and if that holds then asserting himself on the defensive end with the second unit should help that greatly. He may even get minutes at small ball 5 with the starters if he improves on D. Lots of reasons for him to prove himself this year, which is good.
true. the only time one could argue that beasley had good coaching/scheme was in miami, imo. so maybe it's not all his fault. but some of it definitely is. you have to care.
Well James and Rondo will be the ones to hold teammates accountable moreso the latter. They will both assist Walton in that regard. Agree that Beasley is a loafer on D.
Hey remember the first season of Luke where Nick Young actually tried defensively? Let's hope Luke has the same effect on Beasley.

I do, and that's an excellent point. Young actually became a pretty good defender that year. Exactly what I'm hoping for from Beasley. And he himself brought up a comparison with Swaggy P, so hopefully he is motivated and improves on D for us as per our coach's philosophy.
I mean, we didn't bring the guy in to shut players down. Out of all the new guys we signed, he's the most versatile scorer and he's pretty darn good at it too. He may not play a whole bunch of minutes, but he'll probably be a 10 pts in 10 minutes kinda guy. Volume scorer. Any extra effort on D is just an added bonus from him.
He's going to be Beastley on offense, I have no doubt. But it's that other end.... however if he does stuff like this, then hold onto your butts!
Well ... up to a certain age fathers usually do make it tough on their kids one on one. But you're right if he can reach down like Nick Young did 2 years ago for some good D then hold onto your butts!!
He has all the physical tools to be a decent defender. It's up to Luke and the coaching staff to practice defense non stop
