The thing is if we need shooting, let's just get Kuzma in there.

There's really only one reason to play Deng and that's to boost some semblance of trade value, but how much would we really get? Of all the guys on the team, he's done the least. He's one of the worst signings in Laker history.

Agree. However, I see Kyle playing the 3/4; How can we distribute his minutes? He said he feels more comfortable at the 4. I don't think he's quite strong enough to do that full-time, though. Then again, we won't be asking him to do it full time, but in certain spots/match-ups.

I just don't see Randle and/or Nance giving us enough shooting at the power forward position from the 3-point line. IMO.

Yeah it's tough after one game, but the guys really just went right back to their old habits for the most part.

Kuzma is getting big, big minutes off the bench for sure. I don't care much who suffers for it, the team is going to win.

soooo....how much flame do i get for suggesting we try starting deng at the 4? because it's just abundantly clear there's nobody on this roster that can play luke's idea of the pf spot. i suppose kuzma's close, but he'll get ragdolled by any legit nba 4 right now.

It’s preseaon, if there’s ever a time to do this and see what he’s got, if he has ANY value at all, this is it. These games don’t count, and we can’t be much worse than we were with the previous starting lineup, so why not.

Deng actually looks decent tonight. Hit a couple shots, taking it to the hole, good defense. Weird.

Yes. We may need his production, too.

I kept looking back at the tv wondering what world this is. This must be just another sign of the impending apocalypse.

I won’t be surprised if Deng plays better this year. There is now someone in front of him that he has to respect and that can call him out about his effort and play, and their expectations. That would be Magic.

Prior to Magic there was no one to be accountable to. A vet that has logged millions, is at the end of his career, and should know he got over on the Lakers with the current contract, and had a rookie coach about his age, and a front office that no one respected, I can see someone dogging it under those conditions. Should he have done so? No. But not surprised by it.

I'm not complaining. Deng playing well only brings positives to this team. More competition, more wins, and more trade value.

find a way to send him to Clev for Frye/Shump, Shump has only 1 yr left after this season, so cheaper to either stretch or buyout.

Nobody is taking on Deng's contract without major incentive; he makes a ton of money, and even if he does end up showing he can be productive, we're going to need include youth and/or draft picks to unload his contract.
