Ball's shooting is pissing me off. He can't make layups, can't make midrange shots, can't hit 3s and can't hit FTs...abysmal.

45% from the FT line deserves a b**** slap. No ifs or buts.

I love this kid but seriously, 45% from the FT line?
I think it's time to stop laughing at Fultz.

I’m not really the kind of person to make threats.....but....

If he doesn’t improve, he may end up with an unfavorable gif

If we endured BI's terrible terrible bust rookie year, we can endure Lonzo's one flaw

Hack-A-Lonzo could be coming soon....he is SO bad from the free throw line and I don't get it.

He better not be rapping this summer and in the gym working on that shot...

The free throw shooting is flat out unacceptable. And I'm one of the biggest Lonzo supporters here.

He is a streaky kid shooting the ball. He plays it cool, but he obviously gets his head way up his own butt when he's "off". The difference in confidence from him when he's struggling to when he's hitting is striking. Just has to take a deep breath and relax.

Everything positive about this kid far outweighs the negatives. His feel for the game is still astounding. I echo whoever said Durant threw him off though. Brilliant move by Kerr to f*** with the kid's head. What Ball should have realized immediately is that if Durant is guarding Lonzo, somebody is open inside and he should have given the ball up and let someone else push it.

Almost dead last in FT% in the league with anyone with 50+ attempts.

Andre Robertson is also horrific for a guard as well.

Edit - His positives though are immense, not hating (except his shooting %'s :D)

Ball looks so nonchalant at the stripe...unlike Kuzma who takes his time to get his bearings and relax. Heck, even Randle not being the most textbook form shooting wise rattles them in at a good clip.

Kudos for the thread title change...good laughs.

You guys are on an emotional roller coaster with this kid.

Beginning of the year = O noes! He can’t shotz the ball!!??!

After the all star break = Wow, kid can really shoot the rock, Kobe-lite!!

    Now = we be doomed!

Me = Lonzo shot great in high school, shot great in college, shot great in Summer League, and is going to shoot great in the NBA. Don’t stress over a rookie’s struggles.

It goes without saying Zo does other things on the court that vastly affect the outcome in our favor. But more times than naught he settled with what their zone baited him into doing. 1-8 from the land of 3 is giving them exactly what they wanted.

He doesn't have a NBA body, he came off a back to back. After missing 16 games, he came back to a March schedule where we played 8 games in 14 days and the last 3 games we played in 4 days. For March he's averaging 36 minutes a game which is his personal high this season.

Its pretty obvious he doesn't have the legs and that is why he absolutely needs to hit the gym this summer instead of doing those wonky pullups at camp Lavar. Kid needs to get stronger and fans can say he's been a great shooter during his pre-NBA career, but these are grown a** men you're going against....he needs to rework his shot IMHO. There is no symmetry/continuity/rhythm in his shot attempts. Each one of his looks has such variance to it.

We can say its a rookie thing, a head thing or a mechanics thing....but setting historically low performances at the charity stripe tells me the kid has to put in the work this summer for sure.

It reminds me a lot of the Ingram stuff we heard last season. There's at least some solid statistical reasoning for an argument like that in regards to efficiency, but just watching the guys play anyone who knows basketball knows they've got the talent. To be totally fair, not every talented kid works out, but I have faith in these kids. Ingram made a giant leap. I think Lonzo makes a giant leap as well.

The shooting overall will come around in time, not really worried about that. He does need to add a mid range jumper, work on a floater and attacking the hoop more. The free throws though, like LJ said, are unacceptable. Of all things he can fix right now it has to be the free throws. Get in the gym and get on that. There’s no defender in his face, he doesn’t have to create space and wind up that shot, they’re free throws, come on kid.

Regarding the free throws, maybe Zo should try what Coach Nick suggested:
