Which leads me to say again, refs should be accountable for the mistakes they make. I like that they are reviewing all games and stating any mistakes made by the refs but then what happens, nothing much except for half the parties involved being pissed off because of a mistake. Refs have too much power in the NBA.
Humans are not infallible If any job required you to be financially liable for mistakes, it would be called owning your own business But you sure would like to think the result of all of this is improvement in their ability down the road. Unfortunately after a game like last night, I just don’t see it. Yet.
saw that highlight, im conflicted, i love what happened to harden, but i hate the ones who benefitted from it.
I cannot explain my amount of loathing for Marcus Smart. I utterly and completely hate him and he fits the Green F***ers to a tee.
yeah, i wish this represented a turning point in how he's officiated, but in truth, home games in boston this year are brutal for the opposition. they foul with impunity. nene got hacked a couple times down the stretch in this game, for example. but they were smart--they didn't foul harden. harden's second offensive foul might have been the most baldfaced example of ref-baiting i've ever seen. he was like "you're not going to call that on james harden twice. watch..." that they did was classic. i lol'd. the league/refs created that monster, now they have to deal with it.
Yeah don't get me wrong, I don't care about Harden and he was dumb enough to get baited into that, but seriously f*** Marcus Smart for that bush league crap. That's not the way you should win a game. It's pathetic. It's against the spirit of competition. It's not the example I'd want anyone playing basketball to follow. In any other context, with any other player, I'd call that shameful, pathetic, and I'd say Smart should be suspended. Against Harden... well Harden deserves it. And don't think the refs in this game weren't winking at him knowing he of all people was complaining about the refereeing towards him just a game or two ago.
