Ariza, Baze, and DJ were idiotic signings. Ellington I can see the need he filled but the rest of the teams lack of D makes him unplayable so he hasn’tpanned out. Melo, Monk, and Nunn were great signings, IMO. We should have signed Gay or OPJ, Mills, and a stretch 5. Edit: not even gonna mention losing Caruso
LeBron and AD wanted Russ. Who said hold my beer and wanted Ariza. Boom. Didn’t Trevor say as soon as Russ was here he called him up …. UCLA connection?
we tried to sign mills; he turned us down for bkn. i think that could have really helped us, too. i thought nunn was a good consolation prize, but he hasn't played. dj was the signing that made me immediately scratch my head. we needed a stretch big or a mobile big after dwight, and he was neither.
It's one thing if Ariza and DJ are your 14th and 15th man going into the year, but as that tweet said above Ariza was penciled in a a starter and DJ was starting earlier this year. Roster has too much dead weight. We're dragging around a lot of corpses on free rides.
we've found so many ways to disappoint that non-losses are great. i do wish i'd caught this one, though (i honestly forgot about it until it was almost over), as i wanted to see what AD and stan on the floor might do for us. without having seen it, i'd say holding a team with harden and mills and aldridge under 100 is a good thing.
Compared to a loss, no injuries and no new covid protocols …. it’s positive. Oops wrong thread. Eff it … consider it a troll then.
Wasn't sure where to dump this stat I heard, but it's definitely not a good thing, so I'll drop it in here... Was listening to a podcast yesterday, LFR I think, and they said that since last Feb that Bron and AD have only played in 24 of the past 98 games together. I knew it was low with all the injuries, but had no idea it was THAT low. That in nearly the past calendar year, they've only played 24 games together.
Bazemore was a huge disappointment, he literally went from fighting for a starting spot and being a 3&D to a dancing mascot on the sideline. Ariza less so, but this is probably one season too many for him. DJ, no idea why we signed him when we needed an energy big or one that could space the floor. Ellington fits a need and could still be useful. I get not signing Rudy Gay and Otto Porter Jr, initially we were going to play big and we had Melo, Lebron and AD for those wing positions. But one of those would of been damn handy playing small and with all of our injuries.
Yeah "Duke" seems like he should get more run. So often he comes in cold and nails decent - good (considering coming in cold) per cent of his 3s, works hard as he can and doesn't seem to be anything like a turnstile out there.
still don't get why they didn't bring back matthews instead of going out and signing bazemore didn't he want to come back too?
I doubt he wanted to not play as long as it took him to be picked up by the Bucks. I thought he never got a fair shot here because of Schroeder having to start.
i was thinking about this yesterday for some reason: was i wrong in thinking that baze looked good in the preseason and even the first few games? i remember thinking this. and it was like he just disintegrated after that. but maybe i'm wrong, and he was bad from the jump.
You're not wrong at all. He looked pretty decent early on; somewhat undersized to defend true wings, but he wasn't bad at all. Then his offensive game dropped, then his defense for some reason. Who knows why.
He really looked great in preseason. WTH happened? He was always at the least a pretty good 3 and D player wing throughout his career and then he comes here and becomes completely useless. I don’t get it. I thought he’d be a starter here for sure after seeing him preseason. He’s not even that old!
He looked better in the preseason for sure. I don’t know what happened. He must have seen the cliff and kept going.
