This is a bummer , I had high hopes for this season … the fact that GS and those PHX are kicking butts is even more bummer .. sooo does anyone know where our LIGHT SWITCH is ?
I mean we are only 4 behind Utah for 3rd place and I don’t really think GS or PHX are for real or as good as their records … but we shall see… lakers have the pieces to trade in the mid season and make the team better … wishful thinking , i know .
Partly? I'd put this construction 90% on them. We had a balanced roster and they are the ones who marched into Rob's office and told him to get Russ. Once we traded Russ for everything not nailed to the floor, Rob had little options to fill out the roster. I know Lebron got us a ring, but I'm getting to the point where I wonder if it was worth it. At least with the kids, they were fun to root for. They were exciting to watch grow. We have had one good season since Lebron got here. One. And now we have a bunch of old, washed up prima donnas who don't give a flying f*** about this team.
It’s almost like they are all standing around watching LBJ go one on one lol.. Yes !selling the whole farm for that one ring was totally worth it .. IMHO
I think it was worth it, but I'm in the "sell your soul" to win a championship camp because a lot of teams don't even have 1 championship. Unfortunately, we just have to deal with the consequences now like having no draft picks, and 90% of our cap going to 3 aging stars. If you are looking for sustained success like the Spurs did from 1996-2018, I would say that's pretty rare.
I appreciate that one ring LBJ brought to LA … because I was sold on the narrative that he is done and he only signed with LAKERS to be closer to Hollywood and do whatever it is that he is involved with as far as acting , rapping … etc
If this is the type of effort we are going to get from LeBron throughout the rest of the season, ship him out to Portland for Dame( I know it won’t happen, but it should- for basketball reasons).
I would have been fine with bringing back the Bubble team and tweaking that group for LeBron’s remaining years, but he wanted to coast. They were a balanced group and fun to root for.
I’ll take the title every day of the week. I think many of us have forgotten how bad things were during literally the worst stretch of Laker history. This team frustrates me but with AD and even Russ you can build a competitive team after LeBron is gone. I do not want to go back to the days of free agents laughing at us, Deng and Mosgov being our free agent haul, Byron Scott, etc etc etc. Honestly going down memory lane and typing all that out makes me feel slightly better about the year so far. Slightly.
I know this is the WMC but also this team has barely played together and unfortunately Ariza was meant to be a key part of the roster. I think both Russ and Lebron were mediocre but the Lakers unlike the first part of the season looked like the better team that would slowly but surely put down a good but now great team. Don't even have to go back to pre-lebron, this team stunk and now at least looks like a playoff caliber team (obviously not a title contender). Baby steps
