i'd like to see the distributions of "mph" on the court. seems like it's confounded with total movement (so it's less about being slow and more about not moving, which is definitely an issue in our offense). the fact that three of the bottom six come from the same team sets off alarm bells in my stat mind. anyway, what's interesting is that we actually rank second in pace. i don't know what all that means.
I think what Zach was trying to say is: when you have good offense, and you also rank high in defense, you have a good team and therefore you join other teams who do the same. Nice analysis, for sure.
THT sucks. I don't know what everyone sees in him, aside from the constant reverse layup-ing, because he lacks vertical. He isn't a PG and won't ever be one. He is an undersized slashing SF with shaky shot. We passed up on AC for this... I wish this was all over already. ATGROE
But damn... Frank's gonna suffer for this and look at this D in 3rd. Had they played the way he taught them for 3 seasons, we'd be like at 70% instead o 50%.
Reaves isn't starter caliber yet. I'd just be happy with him, giving us some quality minutes off the bench.
So, the defensive plan tonight was to guard everyone, except for Holmes? LOL! Dude shot tonight! Anyway, it worked.
as i said above, i think this stat is probably useless for a few reasons. but i'd need to see the full data set to really make a determination (what's the SD on mph? who's at the top? are their pockets of teammates? might that indicate a systemic cause?). reeks of "found another thing the lakers are bad at" instead of "i was looking at some good metrics, and it appears the lakers are bad at them". and i really think the distinction between mph and total miles matters, as they indicate different issues (are they moving slowly or just not moving a lot?). the merged function clouds that. also, it's not broken down by on or off ball movement. iow: body movement stats could be quite interesting if deployed sensibly.
Funny: no Bradley and a limited DJ and we blew out the Kings? Wow. What about completely taking them out the rotation and give yourself a chance to win some games. Goodness.
I don’t think it’s as simple as that given how little minutes those guys play. I think we actually gave the team effort on defense in the third that we’ve been missing and our bench was fantastic. Dwight playing starters minutes though might be the move from now on.
