Hard to judge this without accounting for injuries: i mean they had DAJ, Melo, and Westbrook for stretches out there. That is simply a bad defensive team no matter what scheme you run. Dwight being out on top of the Ariza/THT was a key factor last night
Exactly, until we have everyone back, including a couple guys we were counting on being above average defenders this year in THT and Ariza .... the jury has to be out on what they "can be". Good news is it's obvious Frank is starting to play guys more minutes who can actually defend out there vs less time to matadors. Looking at you Monk in spite of your offensive abilities.
Yeah, I hope you guys are right. You can have a "matador" out there if the rest of the guys are solid and quick. But having 3 people who are not defenders - say, Westbrook (although he is so athletic that he should defend better), Monk and Melo just doesn't work. You could have 2 ADs with them, it's still not enough. Russ should step it up, Melo plays so well on the offensive end, and his production is very impressive for a bench guy that you can forgive everything else. But Monk isn't Melo and he should either work extra hard on D or he's simply not going to play once we have everyone back. I mean, I like him, but we can't have a bunch of bad defenders playing at the same time.
That taking away 2 free throws thing was ridiculous. Yes, it was the correct call, but in addition to losing the points we didn’t get the possession we would have gotten instead of the free throws. So essentially they stole a possession from us because we got fouled. If that’s the letter of the law it needs to be changed. Also, going to the last shot with Houston? Come on now, shows why we were getting blown out against teams like GS and Phoenix.
So true. The defense is terrible. They have guys who are locked in like AB, Baze, Reaves and AD. Also Melo is certainly trying. But Russ and Lebron don’t seem to be. They need to step it up. Monk is kind of a hopeless case on D. He gives up as much as he makes offensively. Having no Dwight in the Houston games hurt.
We’re still screwed without LeBron. Russ isn’t that guy, at least not anymore, he probably misses more layups than any superstar I can think of. Losing TWICE to OKC with 20 point leads both times is inexcusable and pathetic.
For me this one is mainly on Vogel and his rotations. Yes we are short handed but there’s still no real reason for some of the line ups we’re seeing. We lost the game when he sat Russ, Melo, and AD. Multiple leads were killed by bad line ups.
I saw him playing poorly most of the game. He puts up stats, but watching him is ugly. No defense, risky passes, blown layups, bad shot selection. No, it’s not all on him, but he’s the PG and leader and the team goes as he goes, that’s what comes with it when you make 44 mil per, higher expectations. Instead I guess we need
can't even beat the league's worst team without lebron. really can't even win with lebron either unless melo goes off from 3 honestly just hope they can sneak into the play-in game
I’m just going to pray Dame demands a trade to the Lakers and someone in the Portland F.O. Is able to convince everyone else that Westbrick really isn’t that bad.
There's no excuse to lose 2 games against one of worst team in the league, both after leading by 19 or more points. Doesn't matter if they need time to gel or wtv, this can't just happen. Need to watch the game to understand what happened
