No amount of coaching can fix this offense. Because we're actually get good shots, but can't hit anything.
We will not make the playoffs with this roster. And LeBron will labor his way to the points record, would not surprise me if he gets injured carrying the load, it’s TOO MUCH. A trade might be worth it just to stop the embarrassment, not give NO the #1 pick, just start to build some continuity. At least with the Indy trade we’d have 4 guys making money, to build with or flip Edit: the tweet I posted was deleted, but it said only 14 teams in league history have started 0-5 and made the playoffs. I suppose that’s not quite as bad in the play-in era, but the chances still aren’t good
Yeah by not just going forward with the admitted overpay of the Indy deal preseason we are playing a game of chicken that doesn’t seem to be in our favor. The idea of going 20 games before making a move with the schedule we have and the incomplete roster and new coach and players EVEN if we were healthy was going to be tough. With AD already nursing injury I definitely think we end up 5- 15 which is a pretty difficult handicap. And then what if there isn’t a trade to make then either? The tanking teams might not be on quite on the same time line.
I'll admit I probably watched a whole game's worth of minutes of the last 5. Fell asleep watching last night in the 2nd, then 3rd quarter. I don't know if the team is any better than last year, it's still barely watchable. the empty seats we see at home games are understandable. Unless we do a trade, it'll be the first season I barely watch in many years.
We are NOT making playoffs. We will be 1 - 10 in 6 games, and even that 1 is my hope we take 1 game from Utah. So... no.
I’ve been saying we’d struggle out of the gates based on our roster and schedule for months. Also never bought that our negotiating position would improve as it’s very likely our record is going to be worse after 20 games than our rumored trade partners. Team is a complete mess and pretty much everyone saw this coming several miles away. Well everyone but our front office.
League Pass was messing up last night so I took that as I sign I wasn't supposed to see this loss. I hate this team. It's so unlikable. I'm going watch nearly all of these games, but it's really tough to find things to enjoy watching with this group of rentals. As constructed, it's probably my least favorite Lakers team in over 25 years.
Nailed it. I started following the Lakers in 1985 (great year to start, right?) and this is the least favorite team with the worst offense in the last 38 years. Maybe we had worse squads before that, I wouldn't know. You remember the Divac/Threatt/Van Exel Lakers, for example? They did not win much, but I actually liked that team. They tried, played fun ball, everyone scored. At least that's something. This is unwatchable right now.
This is the thing that is so galling, I actually liked last year’s players like Monk and Stan, AB, Dwight and Melo. This year we have idiots like Pat Bev and Schroder and still have Russ which is absurd. It’s not a likeable team. And it’s certainly not enjoyable to watch as they can’t shoot to save their lives. The fact that the FO thumbed their nose at the fans by not resigning favorite Caruso and then doubling down on not trading Russ is pathetic.
There is nothing endearing about this Team to me at all.. In previous down years, there was always something that kept me engaged, excited & rooting for my Team. Seeing Kobe go off for 81pts, watching promising young talent develop, looking forward to the Draft, etc, etc. There is none of that here. No attachment to Lakers legacy, No Laker Pride, No chance at landing one of the most promising draft picks in decades.. Just 3 overpriced used cars, a bunch of scrubs, a Rookie Coach & historically bad shooting. Not only that, but now watching LeBron about to pass both Kareem & Magic's records, while wearing Purple & Gold & while our Team continues it's downward spiral... Just pours salt on the wounds. I have nothing against LeBron, but I don't think I'll be able to celebrate his accomplishments because, just like everything else about this Season, it just doesn't feel like it's part of the Lakers Dynasty... Rant Over.
This is what you get when you hand your Franchise over to LeBronze and Klutch. I can honestly say that adding it all up so far, even with winning the last Championship, having LeBronze become a Laker has been more pain than gain. Last season’s team was unwatchable and this one so far is even worse. We all know how we have come to this point. It disgusts me that Jeanie is perfectly fine with all of this. It just shows she does not feel the same way her Father did about the Lakers and the fans. Making money is all she really cares about. I don’t care if the words that come out of her mouth tell a different story. Her actions of late, mainly LeBronze’s and Ron’s extensions, show her true intentions.
Championship year we had McGee, AC, and Dudz who were all very likeable. Some people liked the return of Dwight and his personality. We had THT and Kuz, some were attached to the remaining kids. And that was my favorite year of Bron because of how he carried the weight and burden of Kobe's passing. 20-21: AC, Dudz, THT, and Kuz for the above reasons. The return of the Gasol. Wes was likeable. And I really liked Trezz... backup bigs with high motors who bust their a** and have infectious energy are usually among my favorite bench players (Mbenga, Turiaf as other examples). 21-22: the familiarity tour with Ariza, Ellington, Dwight, Rondo, and Baze. They're family. They ended up being family you only want to see at family reunions once a decade or so... but still. Monk was a fun watch. AR came out of nowhere and that was a fun story. Still had THT for better or worse. We brought in Stan and Gabe later in the year and they were our two hardest workers out there. And last but not least, we added the Laker I enjoyed watching more than anyone we've acquired since Kobe retired -- Melo. He was on the last leg and Vogel played him waaay too many minutes, but he still was as smooth as they come. He put on bucket getting masterclass every time in the floor. This year we have to watch Russ and Pat Bev. BOTH! We have to pray Bambi can make it one game without grimacing or coming up gimpy. He's being pushed to a level where it's a certainty he'll break down. Bron is going to run himself into the ground with no help. This offense is embarrassing and the D won't hold up. Brown, JTA, Gabriel and AR will probably be my favorite players this year assuming they all are still here. But my like meter for those four are lower than my favorites of any of the previous recent seasons.
