It isn't rocket science really. Lakers needed big wings and outside shooting to complement their two stars......period. They won with this in 2020. Since then they have been adding either old peeps who can't shoot, midgets who can't shoot or an overrated HOF who is also a midget and can't shoot- while in the process getting rid of the ones we had... And they rewarded Pelinka an extension for this cluster****... The franchise is an embarrassment...
Yep. This season is already done. We aren't doing anything. Adjust your expectations and enjoy watching LBJ chucking.
We have. You're right, it is starting a little wonky but the reactions are justified when we're off to historically bad start with our record and our shooting. It's not like we have Steph and he hasn't found his shot yet. We have really bad shooters and are limited on talent. The talent we do have are redundant pieces. These games are confirming our worst fears. The D was impressive out of the gate, but that's not sustainable. As losses pile up, commitment to D will take a nose dive and AD is going to be out for the year by game 20 at this rate. His back is bothering him and he has no help. The ask is that he shoulders this load and carries the team, he can't. He needs help.
agree on most counts, but again, it's 4 games against teams expected to be better than us, save the portland game--they're expected to be about the same. and we had that game won, dammit. the defense has been great, and just like you say that can't continue, the historically bad shooting can't, either. i refuse to believe it.
both teams asked for two future firsts. the first guy went for no firsts and kelly olynyk. if teams won't deal honestly with us, what can you do?
I hate this comparison because those two guys werent fairly available to us. If Bog was available to us for what he went for then fine, but he wasn’t.
Bogdanovic putting up monster numbers is irritating. I know he's on a bottom feeder and might be the #1 option there, but seeing his stats on the ticker during the game is unnerving while watching our bricklayers.
Well, if we could trade for DeRozan and then clone him 4 times, I'd feel better about this idea. Although it might be worth trying, since everything else seems absolutely awful anyway.
it might help folks gain some confidence back, too. it's in people's heads. literally everyone is shooting below their career averages by a wide margin, and these shots are wide open. that's not just "bad shooters". that's mindfucked, imo. lonnie was a "bad shooter" because he's a career 34% three point shooter. he's shooting 17%. russ was bad because he was 28%. he's shooting 8%. bevs was 37%. he's shooting 19%. nunn: 36%, shooting 20%. it can't hold, imo. would be the weirdest thing i've ever seen.
Right. The issues we're having were identified by pretty much everyone who looked at the team objectively before the season. We are asking guys who have never been great shooters / defenders to suddenly be able to do both. To their credit, they've bought in on defense but the result has been historically bad shooting on the other end. I tend to believe the shooting will trend up a bit but the defense will also go down. Team needs more moves in the worst way. Its just not built to be even middle of the pack in the league.
