Seriously? You think at that point in time Rob had more juice than LeBron and AD …. and Klutch wanting them to be happy, and the organization wanting Klutch to be happy, and who knows …. maybe Kurt thinking Russ could work after being told about all the unofficial self sacrificing conversations the three of them had together?

LeBron extended his prime beyond what most thought possible, only to sabotage the fruits of his labor via the Russ trade. The talent deficit created from that trade is absolutely wild. $250M luxury tax wouldn't save this team.

You are probably in the minority, sirron. It wasn't good. And a championship is always worth it.

signing lebron and trading for AD were 100% worth it because they got a ring out of it

letting lebron get his way and blowing up a title contender for westbrook was not worth it, as we've seen. that trade put the lakers on the fast track back to the dark ages

They made a mistake going after Westbrook, we know that, continually harping on that fact has grown old. Let's see how we get out of it. I like that management was not stupid with our 2 available-for-trade FRPs. They showed calm and poise. We can make a deadline move or we have super star type of cap space if we let everything not signed drop off the books and go all vet mins + MLE next year or use the cap on depth. Westbrook was gonna cost us 2 seasons no matter what though we'll see at the deadline if it puts a nail in this season's coffin as well. Coffin is half-open right now.

at some point, he is better as an expiring here unless we get real value in return. Fleecing us just screws us for this year, right?

Yeah. I could roll with folks thinking multiple people were involved with that choice as they likely were. But to act like Rob had no power in that choice and was an innocent bystander is definitely a head scratcher. I don’t really see that point of view anywhere outside of this forum though.

Even trying to go down that road doesn’t really hold up to me. LeBron had two years on his deal and AD had three at the time. What would they have done had the trade not happened? Sat out? Tried to get Rob fired? I could see if it was CP3.

But Over Russ? Nah. Not buying it. He didn’t do that in earlier seasons when we passed on Melo and I just can’t see anyone calling for someone’s job over Russ.

Guys like Rob and want to give him a chance to get the bus back out of the ditch and that’s fine. But he certainly has played a large role in where the team is right now. To say otherwise is also cherry picking in my opinion.

Probably will watch a handful of games. Only to turn it off after middle of 2nd quarter. Then will just stop caring about another losing season. Its been getting hard to watch nba games in general now. Probably gettin older i dunno but when i try to watch games, its just 3 pointers back and forth and some flopping. Teams cant even play real defense anymore. Just not enjoyable to watch anymore, id rather watch hockey now.

All that said, I’m not looking forward to the game tomorrow at all. Hopefully we can find some kind of shooting or it could get ugly.

Better hope for ring ceremony hang over. Those games can be weird in terms of energy and staying mentally engaged. That's all that's in our favor.

sorry, but this is an ox no.

lebron and AD would have half-assed it (like they freaking did anyway!) and gotten rob fired for not moving for russ. you saw how petty lebron got at the deadline, and he's got three or four gears past that.

and the story has been relayed by multiple sources--not just rob--that he had negotiated a different deal. that he felt pressure to go back on his own volition speaks to organizational problems above him more than his own competence.

like you, i really don't see the other side on this. our s***ball organization is to blame for the russ trade. scapegoating rob would do nothing. much like dumping vogel will have little impact, even if ham ends up being an upgrade.

I just honestly don’t believe AD or LeBron would’ve done much of anything if we hadn’t traded for Russ. It’s Russ. There’s no real relationship there. Why would they plant their flags on that hill? It’s not the first time they wanted a player. But for Russ they’d run him out of his job? I doubt it. Especially given how many Klutch guys we’ve signed. The agency is just going to burn the whole thing down because they just wanted Russ so bad? Yeah. Just don’t believe that.

And I don’t consider it scapegoating if that’s your job. You’re the one who is supposed to be responsible. But on this huge decision it was everyone but you? No way.

Was it solely on him. No. Was he a part of it? Absolutely and honestly nothing is going to change my mind on that.
