Really like Payton! Can’t believe we let both him and Caruso go… imagine having them both as our backup PG and SG defenders. We’d need one more lockdown wing and we’d be set.
i thought they got rid of the silly 2/3/2 format a few years ago. edit: they did. game 3 is important for gs, imo, as game 4 is both on the road and the only game with 1 day of rest in the series. that favors the young bucks.
1. It’s tied 1-1 with Boston going home. 2. This is the WMC thread, the optimism thread is buried somewhere I’m sure. Boston in 5.
btw, the standard "he would have been traded for AD" stuff isn't a lock. my guess is we would have been able to keep one of ingram or tatum in that case. which, holy moly.
The person we drafted over Tatum (Zo) I would take right now in a heartbeat. Kind of actually what we need at the PG position. Low-usage, improved his shot, and can switch defensively. This 4 out 1 in system would have been perfect with him. Welp.
Even if he was drafted, he would have been shipped for AD. MAYBE we would have been able to at least keep Ingram in the AD trade in that scenario if Magic/Pelinka could negotiate worth a damn.
no way the pels make that deal without tatum being there. and since there would've been no lonzo, we're probably looking at tatum+kuzma+hart being the deal assuming tatum developed similarly to how he has in boston. lakers probably keep BI but he wouldn't have been playing as well as he has in NO considering he'd be playing alongside lebron
If that’s the case then Ingram becomes a high value separate trade asset then. Would have been able to nab someone very good if traded on his first contract after his rookie one. It’s just bad move, we can justify why it doesn’t matter all we want, but it was a terrible move.
right, i don't think NO could have demanded both ingram and tatum, so we'd have one. or if they demanded both, we probably keep hart and basically all the picks. just a much better situation than the one we had.
if it's any consolation, i think there's very little chance boston is starting a dynasty here. also, the press was constantly finding ways to discredit our various titles while ignoring that half of boston's came over half a century ago. kids don't grow up wowed by bob cousy looking down at his dominant hand whilst dribbling. everyone knows the lakers are still the standard-bearer in the nba. if anything, golden state is the biggest threat in that regard.
