Did you watch the series? Yeah Cam Payne can shoot a little, but it was those drives off the dribble that he was killing us with. We had no answer for that action at all. A guy gets deep into the paint like that, you must rotate to him or concede a layup. Like I said Rondo is a different player, he was never a drive threat, all he had was the high off the glass toss up layup. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. He did hit his jumpers which made him effective. That doesn't mean that it is the only way for a guard to be effective in the pick and roll. It simply means that he played to his game. That doesn't prove your point at all, Westbrook is a totally different animal than Rondo, when it comes to attacking the rim. Teams went under the screens for Avery Johnson's entire career. The mid range pull-up up off the glass is actually his pet shot. I'm not all that worried about teams thinking, that going under the screen against Russ is going to be a factor in them beating the Lakers in a 7 game series, with a top Lebron and AD.
The pick and roll has been around for all these years, because it can be effectively run buy either a shooter or a driver.

Because it sounds good in theory, and a lot of talking heads like to parrot that narrative. You notice that nobody ever touches the Lebron/AD part of the equation. It's always about what Russ can or can't do. Like the Lakers were built around Russell Westbrook.

Even when AD and LeBron are on the floor with Russ, he chooses not to play any off ball defense and is still a redundant, poor fit. Those are just the facts.

Sorry but this is crazy: Cam Payne can shoot a little? - he shot 44% from 3 last year and the year before he shot over 50%.
Examples of Avery Johnson: Avery Johnson played playoff ball literally 2 decades ago - basketball has changed dramatically since then. Teams don't allow this anymore and the rules are different: zone allowed for example

When they lost FOUR rotation pieces to bring ONE in, the Lakers are built around Westbrick.

Those 4 rotation pieces contributed all the way to a play in performance and a first round exit correct?

    Tonight will be an L.

Have to see if we can salvage the trip to go 3-3 on Sunday.

    We're sitting 9th.

Might make the 7th spot if we're lucky.

    That might be Golden State.

    That's best case scenario.

I don't care about percentage, Look.. he hit 11 threes in that series. Yep at 42 pct...Gasol hit 7 at 64% too in that same series. Payne killed us off the dribble in that series. Even if he didn't finish, he broke our D down which led to easy finishes.

I don't care if we are talking Bob Cousy, the game has not evolved at all to the point, that the only way the P&R is effective is if a shooter is running it. That is false.

Three of them are also World Champions- something Westbrick will never be.
You still put all the issues this season under the injury category while conveniently forgetting about these same injury issues affecting the team last season.
    Funny how that works.

That isn't saying anything dude . That's just some silly comeback. Javale, Dwight,Green,Rondo, JR Smith, and Waiters got a ring too didn't they? Maybe not bringing them back was the problem last year eh? You can't have it both ways, if it was all about the injuries last season, how in the hell doesn't that apply this season? Furthermore, besides the main two guns missing all this time, we had more role players missing time this season. Yet somehow this team is still playing at 500 in spite of that. That squad last season needed a 5 game win streak to get to the play in game.

It depends on who suits up tonight. The Hawks are on a 5 game win streak, I wouldn't pencil them in as a sure win either. With our luck...Bron and AD will probably sit that one out, after getting dinged up tonight FR.

    What????

    That's an awful lineup.

    Goodness.

And Reaves still can't get a start?

    Just a garbage lineup.

Biggest sorry sack of one ply a** wipes of a team.

I played CENTER with a broken hand for 6 weeks. Didn't miss one God damn play and I wasn't making 80 million per. Still made all conference.

When Kobe died, he was the last one......I guess people like me have to just accept it...

Being from the Carolinas, I feel so bad for all the Lakers fans like me who circled their calendars to see Lebron, AD and the Lakers play. I knew after the first month I wasn't gonna shell out $200-$500 to watch this mess.
