and that's why that trade was probably made with next season in mind. they know they're not going anywhere this season. the rest of the season is just preseason to gain chemistry with the new guys then once the season ends it'll be time to go after kyrie
Im not sure we're going anywhere wit Ham as the HC. Even 5 preaseasons and training camps won't fix stupid...
we've perfected the art of losing must-win games. the door was closed with the pelicans loss, imo. perfect summation of the season in that one. i'd just like to see the new guys get incorporated in a sensible way and finish the season with some optimism for next year. like...can we get a blowout win? i feel like it's been years.
The season is pretty much over. You can't just "turn it on" at the end and expect to make it and then "compete with anyone". The new team needs to learn how to play together. Also, sometimes teams simply get hot and you lose the game no matter what. We had a horrible start and now we're paying for it. Also, as usual, HAM.
It’s too late. It’s like trying to start writing 10 page paper 1 hour before the midnight deadline Play the kids , develop them and increase their value for offseason
we're not passing 3 teams, 2 of which just beat us this week. just rooting for the pels to lose so that our pick is better.
In 2021 the Warriors were pretty bad most of the year but used that time to integrate the new supporting cast with Steph. In 2022, they were able to come out of the gates strong, rest down the stretch and win the whole thing. That should really be the goal now IMO. Sure we could still make the play in, maybe we could even catch fire and get up to the 6 seed. But we're not winning the championship. Of the 76 NBA champions 66 of them have been Top 2 seeds. Of the remaining 10, 8 were the 3rd seed. The 4th seed won once and the 6th seed won once but they were the defending champion with the best player in the game. We're not going to replicate that and we're not getting higher than 6th, so no we are not making a miracle title run this year.
Had we gone something like 5-5 or even 4-6, in the first 10 games, we would have been in a much better position. In order for us to make the play in a lot of things have to break in our favor over the remainder of the season: - Steph would have to be out for pretty much the rest of the regular season, but so far it seems like the Warriors are treading water with his absence. - The Jazz would have to do a better tank job then they are currently doing - Portland and/or OKC would have to start losing a string of games. - AD needs stay available and get healthier. The latter I don't see happening and can very much affect the former. Something is just not right with him right now. - Lebron needs to come back ASAP and stay healthy. The latter does not seem promising over the remainder of the season. We are basically at the mercy of when he gets these foot flare ups. - The team is able to successfully integrate the new guys IMMEDIATELY. A lot of it is just we don't have enough games for that, but another is this coaching staff under Ham is incredibly underwhelming. Basically any 4 out of 6 above bullet points have to go our way. Pelinka/FO did their job in getting rid of Westbrook at the deadline and setting up next season, but at the same time I guess you can still criticize them for not doing the Turner/Hield trade before the season started. The counter to that though is we would have probably had to give up both FRPs (unprotected). So I don't know *shoulder shrug*
Agree 100%. It was already starting to become unlikely for us to turn this around but the must win losses to OKC and NO especially hurt us. The awful start and the ref job losses sure didn’t help. Once again we just didn’t seem to have it for another season in a row. Still too many injuries for AD and Lebron. Not enough help til the trade deadline (too late). Westbrook and his bad fit even though he was better off the bench at least. Maybe just maybe they can put it together and make the playin but I’m losing faith in that given all you stated. The most annoying part to me is the coach not making smarter decisions with his new roster. There is still time to fix it but it’s running out.
Without AD, again, at full strength, this team has no chance. This song and dance is beyond played out.
It would have been nice to have Beverley to throw at Lillard last night. Schroeder had a great game against GS but he's much more redundant now on this roster then Bevs.
It will be nicer to have Sugar Ray Bamba going forward hopefully, to back up AD. But yeah, sure, to your point.
