Yep, right now, he is on my watch closely list. Not sure I like his coaching that much. It has a been a bad year to judge him so I will give him one more year and then he either succeeds or we need to move on. Right now, I think I like Vogel better but he was hamstrung when he worked here.
And Ham battling his way out of certain depression over losing 2/3 of his killer midget closing rotation. He's probably not slept since wondering, "yeah I thought I had input and WTF am I supposed to do now?".
My worry is that he is going to keep starting Dennis because he’s his guy. That pushes Dlo to SG and we might see Lonnie or Beasley at the three. I could just see him pulling that. At least the Dennis starting part. Which would really screw with things IMO. What I’d like to see is folks playing their natural positions: Dlo at point, Beasly at SG, Lebron at 3, AD at 4 and Bamba at 5 for the starters. Then you have Dennis, Reaves/Walker, Rui/Brown, Vando/Gabriel off the bench. Stagger some of ADs minutes between 4 and 5, give Bamba some run at 5 off the bench as well.
Doesn’t he kind of “have to” use Dennis in the departed Westbrook slot though with the bench, being the best other ball handling guard? I mean logically …. but then again same worries as you with this guy and his inflexible stubbornness about the whack rotations so far, losing us games be damned. @sirronstuff … almost seems like since Byron is long gone it would be cathartic to have Ham’s head “shopped” onto the old No-Sensitol ooooh candy! gif in place of Boron’s.
I’m fully expecting to see Schröder and DLo start together, it’s just who Ham seems to be. I also have to wonder if Dennis was also promised a starting spot to come here for the minimum, to showcase himself or something for the next deal. You’d have to think our best starting lineup is something like DLo, Beasley, Vanderbilt or Rui, LeBron and AD, or maybe even DLo, Beasley, LeBron, AD and Bamba depending on situation.
It's a bummer because Dennis's best use is obviously off the bench just like the first time around, which didn't happen either. But knowing Ham he will undoubtedly continue starting. I'd be shocked if he doesn't. I hope I'm wrong. I agree with you about best starting lineups Weezy.
I don’t know how much playoff success this team will have but they do look more fun. lakers have drafted and acquired well now they need to do better in developing the talented guys that come around towards a winning cause
I really hope Jeanie and FO don't go into contract negotiations this offseason with the mindset of saving money on taxes. All these speculations of repeater tax implications has me worried they will let certain players walk and/or lowball other players. Our goal this offseason should be to try and re-sign as many players as we can.
I think that if that is what happens, then the Buss family needs to assess their ability to run a successful NBA franchise in the city of Los Angeles.
It was a slim chance anyway but we are a bad team which was ok but also compounded bye bye a very bad coach.
Time is not slipping away, that implies that this is an ongoing process. It ain't, the season is over. 6 new players do not learn to play together in 1 game, let alone 20, without a preseason. To exist in this country, you have to prepare yourself for inevitable facts of life.
I am still going to enjoy watching them and I will pull for them to exceed my expectations but I have few delusions about it. Just don't see anything happening this year but I am hoping that the new players show some positive growth and that we can develop some chemistry that will benefit us next year.
Disappointing loss after the GSW, but also a freak game for POR, hitting 23 3s and shooting 49% from the arc. I'm with the "we ain't makin' the play-in but I'm interested to see how these guys gel before game 82" guys. Like: to finish 42-40 would be awesome. 6 games below .500, so it's a real long shot. We are Laker fans, know the history, so O! how the mighty have fallen, indeed.
I said in the Rob Pelinka thread, once we traded for 5 new rotation players that was kind of the end for this team. We’re gonna see spurts of good offence and great defence because we got some nice young pieces back. But you can’t mesh 5 new players without a lot of time. Playing so many games means that they probably aren’t even training much.
