I was actually happy we won and I’m sure I could maybe find some quotes on here that prove it, but the subsequent seasons have shown me, we care more about being one hit wonders, then being perpetual contenders. As a fan who wants our team to always be in contention, things aren’t looking up.

Our team cares more about championships than competing. I’m convinced of this.

I wasn’t, but if what was reported is meant to be believed, players wanted more to be with their families especially those who lost loved ones than to play a game. Again if I’m to believe the reports then no one truly wanted to play including these Lakers, so I’d say the same thing whoever won the championship that year.

Uhh, BI and Clarkson aren’t winners, what do you mean? And I mean they are flourishing in their progression and in numbers. They are all drastically better then when they were here. I have to assume that improvement would/could have happened with us. And our cap situation with those guys wouldn’t be worse than where we are now, so I disagree with that point. All in all it’s just frustrating being a Lakers fan when you see us being one hit wonders while everyone else seems to be building for the future or actually competing year in year out.

How many titles does Ingram, Clarkson, DLo and Lonzo have COMBINED? Heck, how many playoff series?
We have all our picks but one btw

Not sure what that even means. Aren't championships the whole f***ing point?

No one was being forced to play in the bubble. There were a handful of guys who opted out. Where did you read that the Lakers didn't want to compete? Sounds like you fell for some clickbait b*******

No, BI and Clarkson aren't winners. What exactly have they done since they left the Lakers? Same with Russell, Ball, Randle. Sure, they've improved but there's zero chance they would've been able to keep all of those guys anyways. If this was still BI and Lonzo's team, they'd be competing for 10th place for the 5th straight year

Show me one of these "reports" That's a bunch of BS, players were widely stating that it was the best ballin' they'd ever seen. Teams were tighter on chemistry than they had ever been since the 70's. They ate every meal, watched every movie, and worked out together. You don't see any players that were in the bubble longer than the first round saying anything like that. I heard more than a few remark on the tightness of teams.

There’s some serious nonsense going on in here. I know it’s the WMC, but come on there’s a line. We weren’t winning with any of those players, they’re good, but none is a superstar, and that’s who wins titles

amazing how there are actually some lakers fans out there who would rather have 10th place finishes than the 2020 title

    blows my mind really

jc is correct in saying the young core wasn't going to bring a chip but that doesn't mean using dlo to dump mozgov or giving away nance/jc for more cap space was a good move either, or letting Randle walk for nothing

clearing the money past lebron that summer never made sense to me. unless you KNEW you had another big FA in the bag, we were better off hanging onto those players, imo.

weren't nance and clarkson dealt in order to create space for lebron?

the russell trade was dumb obviously but unfortunately, it had to be done as a result of jim and mitch's incompetence

the one that really sticks out to me is letting lopez walk. guy wanted to come back and would've been a valuable piece going forward

something of value had to be given up

sign n trade with clev could have been possible as well once James confirms, Clev would've accepted imo over letting Bron leave again for nothing, yes same result in the end but imagine if Janes didn't sign here

unless lebron and AD stay healthy for most of the season and ball out, this team is not making the playoffs as constructed

it'll pretty much be a repeat of last year

guessing if you scan rosters league-wide there are a lot of guys playing backup 4 at 6'6"ish.

the fact that we seem to be trying to clear cap space is definitely wmc-worthy, though.

Really boils down to that. We won’t be winners again until we have a balanced roster with depth, and likely some level of continuity.
