I felt like we were just playing catch up all night long. Meanwhile, Kobe's three point shooting is just destroying us. It's horrific. And Byron's mind-boggling use of Bass at the 5. Ugh.

On the plus side nice game from DAR until he got hurt and sweet offensive game from Clarkson. Oh yeah, Hibbert looked great. Why didn't he play more, Byron?

Can we get boron committed? He's clearly mentally ill and is a danger to the Laker franchise.

I'm still confused as to why Hibbert who had 4 blocks in the game was on the bench in the fourth quarter when we were getting out scored in the paint?

I'd love to see how effective Duncan and Dirk would be if they suffered such a brutal career ending injury like Kobe suffered. I get critiquing him for the three's, but I hate when people say he should play like those guys. For one they haven't endured what he has and second they actual have a system and a compatent coach in place. Probably the two best coaches in the league tbh.

Honestly, I think his injury history is even more reason for him to dial it back and stop taking so many threes and contested shots. I think comparing him to those guys is pretty fair. Kobe is 14-70 from the three point line. That's just ridiculous and there's really no way around that.

I'll say again, Kobe is one of my all time favorite Lakers. I've defended him more times than I can count, but the criticisms of him right now are valid.

What's the mileage difference between Duncan/Dirk and Kobe?

Mileage and injuries got nothing to do with Kobe playing STUPID ball. Sure, it slowed him down but taking dumb three after dumb three, pumpfaking guys to death, are brain, not health related :p

But the comparisons really aren't. I know we all want Dirk and Duncan, but when's the last time they tore an Achilles? When's the last time they even tore a shoulder labrum or fractured their leg? Physically they're different from Kobe and that's a fact.

The truth is Kobe should retire. It's hard and cold, but that's the truth. He can't deal with the rigors anymore, he's lost about 5 steps since just a year or two ago let alone his wonder-years. He can't shoot well, he's constantly hurting... it's time now.

We all want him to go to the post, but I think honestly his back hurts when he does it. That's why he only posts up guys who are way, way smaller than him. Guys who are as big as him or bigger can body him up and it literally hurts his back to try to work them down. At this point he's best as a spot up shooter, but he's the last one to recognize that. For 20 years he's been the guy to beat you to the rim, fade away in your face, pull up on you off the dribble... Now he is physically incapable of that and it happened pretty suddenly. Even last year when he was relatively healthy before the shoulder injury he was a LOT better than this. Now he can't do it. Imagine taking Dirk or Duncan from 5 years ago and dumping them into this body, they'd have trouble adjusting too. All those years caught up to Kobe real fast, just like they did for Cap.

^^ I know and it's incredibly irritating. I thought there was no way we could underachieve this heavily. I overestimated Byron it seems.

Completely agree, this is the main point. As far as we all know, Kobe didn't suffer any season-ending or career-jeopardizing injuries to his brain. Apart from maybe 1 game this year, his decision making on the court has been questionable to put it nicely.

I never said they weren't, but part of the reason Kobe is shooting so many three's is he is getting the ball so far away from the basket that he can't get past by anyone and he has very little elevation. It's on the coach to call sets for him to get him clasper to the rim. Those guys are also big men. They play in the low to mid post area. They have so much less wear and tear because of minute restrictions.

It absolutely does. If Kobe wasn't injured he'd be a lot more mobile and would still be able to get by via the dribble maybe not to the extent he once did, but that ability would still be present. That injury completely shot his quickness and first step.

The media complaining about Kobe's three's when James Harden is taking over 9 three's a game at 27%. In his freakin PRIME. SMH.
