Punk, Sacre has been the 2nd string big through all of training camp, this is not some random thing sadly. Why he is ahead of Black, I don't know. Why we'd waste time on him and not give Upshaw a shot, I don't know.

As for Kelly looking better than Randle and Bass, I don't agree on Bass, I thought he looked fine tonight other than missing shots. And to be fair, Kelly played 4 years at Duke and this is his 3rd year in the NBA, I'd expect him to look more ready and polished than a rookie, which Randle absolutely is.

Not taking to much stock in this loss being the first preseason game. Like others said rotations were sack and guys were probably tired from the hard 2 a day scrimmages. It might not get better with the he next few games because we still may get a look at some of the other camp bodies that are obviously going to be cut. But we gotta get a look at them nonetheless.
One thing I will complain about though, lack of defensive rebounds. Too many second chance points. That can't happen in regular season.

it's what james harden's game would look like if he hadn't made a deal with the devil.

my wmc is similar to others': what exactly was byron doing playing guys in those long stretches? most of these guys will never play 12 consecutive minutes in an nba game. i don't see the purpose.

another thing that seems purposeless: guaranteeing anthony brown's contract (really, signing him at all). he's either going to be dead weight eating up a roster spot or a wasted early second round pick should they cut him. they could have held his rights and let him play overseas or in the d-league. better yet, they could have drafted joe young.

given the lakers' recent history with sacre and kelly, they're probably going to keep brown for two or three years and groom him for his role in the chinese league.

I'm not really sure I like the Princeton offense with our current young-ish roster. TBD I guess.

With Russell, it looked a little better because of his ability to hit our guys. We actually had quite a few good looks, but just did not fall through.

I don't know why Byron loves playing guys for 12 minute quarters. I hope we don't see that during the regular season, especially with Kobe.

Why didn't Upshaw play? We all know what Sacre gives us, which is nothing.

There was a lot of undisciplined play by several players on both ends of the court.

All in all, it looked like a preseason game, and there is a lot of room for improvement if we are to be competitive this year.

Giving guys a lot of time to get comfortable with each other and then sitting them either the rest of the game or the rest of the next quarter. I doubt he does that in the regular season.

We now know why Lou is a career 41-42% shooter lol. Looks like he can be streaky like Kobe, and we'll either alternatively sing his praises or curse his name.

But......he was good enough to get 6th man of the year, so his positives WAY outweigh the negatives. I'm sure he's a solid pickup.

I do think either Byron will be confirmed as a decent coach this year, or exposed as one who is not. We have talent, but if they are not playing together and developing like a young C Bags squad as an example, we probably need to go another direction.

We're going in another direction. That I am convinced of...Byron is a placeholder. Nothing more; nothing less. The only question is, will he be here after this year or the following.

Man, last night was a nice bring-you-back-to-Earth demonstration of what it looks like when three pipsqueaks, old-man Bryant and the lumbering manchild from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome start for your team.

Of course, as long as Russell/Randle/Clarkson stay on some kind of consistently upward (albeit at times slow) trajectory... I can live with that.

He did this a ton last year with the Raptors to answer your question about shooting up "desperation" shots. He usually got the call last year. Refs are in preseason mode too.

Ryan Kelly at center ahead of Upshaw? Really Byron?

this is my first NBA season on the east coast, and I already know my work production is going to suffer for a few months with the late starts. I don't know how some of you guys do it on a regular basis. They really should start catering the schedule to my needs.
