What best out there young training prodigy, like Luke is a coaching prodigy ..... is not going to want the job. Vitti will give a good referral if the Lakers need it. What kind of an intensive search is going on for this position ..... any insight or best guessing?
I'd say go out and pay what you need to steal the Phoenix staff. Sure they've struggled with Bledsoe, but that's more to do with him than the staff in my opinion.
I want someone that's up to date with current treatment/recovery approaches/regimens. I think we've been behind in that regard so getting someone that was brought up with the current guidelines and training would get my vote.
Yes that's what I just assume it's going to take to be hired for this elite position. Just really curious, as this should be no stone unturned, how they go about the search. Vitti probably has recommendations for them of how to go about it and references as well.
Yeah we definitely need someone cutting edge. Love vitti but by most accounts, he was behind the times.
Vitti did his absolute best to stay up to date. Everyone in the organization will tell you the man worked his tail off to have knowledge about every new procedure out there. Unfortunately knowing it and knowing what it all means are two separate things. The medical community can leave you behind 100% if you're out of the game for just a couple years. It's a young person's field. I love what Vitti did and I love the effort he put into his job, but it's time to get an accredited trainer in there with more innate, up-to-date knowledge.
I completely forgot about this, and this is a huge need. I have no idea who we will get to replace Vitti, but this is crucial. We don't want to become the Los Sprained Ankles again.
Funny I thought this thread was referring to Kobe's physical therapist Judy Seto. Haha I was clearly wrong
Yeah I was thinking about DiFrancesco as well.... but he's not a clinician so to speak. Great trainer, very knowledgeable on nutrition and kinesiology but he's not an MD. He's a physical therapist. Now Vitti wasn't any kind of practitioner (not even a PT) so you could be on to something. I wouldn't mind if DiFrancesco got promoted but I wonder if he's ready. Whoever we get I want them to be immersed in wearables and player monitoring. I know wearables are currently banned in-game (what a shame) but they are completely legal in practices.
