Friday Night Tykes. Anyone watching this? I just started on Netflix -- almost finished with season 1. If you love football, this is for you.
Mindhunter. new series on Netflix. I'm only on episode 2, but it's really cool if you're interested in how the FBI investigates serial killers, from the early 70s. Whoever Fights Monsters is a book about the first FBI agent to track serial killers. This series reminds me of it. 9.0 on IMDB.
The new Star Trek Discovery show is phenomenal!! Seriously really really good. This is truly a Golden Age of television.
My wife recently discovered the Scream series from MTV and if you're into slasher films, it's actually not bad at all. It's available on Netflix now.
I’ll say it again. Discovery is sooooo good. I wish they didn’t put it on that stupid CBS app so more people could see how amazing it is.
Star Trek: Discovery, The Orville Marvel Agents of SHIELD, The Gifted, Runaways CW Arrowverse MacGyver
Punisher is the best out of those shows although I will caution that there's far more to the Punisher show than just him ripping up criminals. It's about as deep a show as you could get with a comic character. Luke Cage and the Defenders are fun. Iron Fist was easily the worst of the whole cadre, but if you're invested in the characters it's worth it. Also, on topic for this thread (and not directed at you Johnny): I finished watching Chappelle's standup specials on Netflix, watched the show "The End of the F***ing World", and now I'm watching "Big Mouths".
No worries, @therealdeal. I am in fact invested in both DC and Marvel characters and not really concerned with each of the shows' reviews. Also, more excited now than ever to watch Punisher.
That's great! Iron Fist has some fun moments and as a massive fan of the Brubaker IF run, I can't help but pull for the character. And yes Punisher, in my opinion, might even be better than Daredevil just based on the content. I have a lot of family members in the armed forces and seeing a cast and especially a lead so invested in giving a voice to veterans is wonderful and compelling tv.
They say IF is faithful to the comics version by a lot, so that could've been the reason why the resulting product is the worst of the bunch per reviews, but that's fine by me, I'm in it for the fun and enjoyment. You know, one of the reasons why I watch superhero stuff is because they do give voice to different types of people (you mentioned Daredevil, nodding at you).
It’s cooking competition season for me. Hell’s Kitchen, Top Chef and Top Chef Junior. Also really enjoy the CBS show Seal Team. Started off a little slow, but I’m glad I stuck with it, it’s gotten better and better. Also think The Last Man on Earth continues to be one of the best shows on tv. Maybe a lesser known show I’d recommend that is shown on TV Land is Teachers, hilarious cast of women called the Katydids, names all coincidentally derived from Katherine. The Orville is over for the season, but I really liked what they did with that show trying to pay homage to Star Trek, and if you like Seth MacFarlane humror you’d probably like that, glad it got a 2nd season renewal. The Good Place is on break, but I’ve really loved that show as well. Let’s see, more “reality tv” shows, The Curse of Oak Island is fascinating, they seem to be closer and closer to finding out some major answers to hundreds of years of mystery. Also, Hunting Hitler just started season 3, and that show is fascinating, following where the higher ups fled to after WW2 and continued to try keep the nazi dream alive and start the 4th Reich, and if Hitler himself actually escaped his supposed death in that bunker. This is all Network and Cable tv, not even taking into account the quality tv Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and other services are putting out.
