FIction: Stuck in book 4 of the Wheel of Time, Non Fiction: A book on the themes of the minor prophets Comics: Ongoing Saga, Bleach, Hulk, and others.
i went through the wheel of time series last year and loved it...i'm sure you know already (and maybe have started to experience it by book 4) but it does drag a bit in the middle, but totally worth it to get through the whole series. even the books by sanderson once jordan passed are great, my favorite moment of the whole series is in book 12
I'm currently reading Great Wars & Great Leaders by Ralph Raico, and The Most Dangerous Superstition by Larken Rose. I highly recommend both books, especially The Most Dangerous Superstition since it's one of those rare books that truly can change the way you view the world.
Comics: Walking Dead (Haven't been up to date these days) Wolf Among Us Books: Waiting for Winds Of Winter, been waiting soooo long.
Eleven Rings was a great read, might reread it if I have time. He's a good writer, also being able to step into his mind was awesome too. A book I always recommend is Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom. Currently reading the Ender series and Walking Dead comics. And school books, bleh.
Same here . In the meantime you can always give other authors a chance . I am finding it extremely difficult to really enjoy other books after GOT, but I haven't given up my search...
It isn't similar to George, but I really enjoyed Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. It's pretty funny, especially the older books. I also like Neil Gaiman's novels, also kind of fantasy but very unconventional and funny as well. I would recommend the Wild Cards series too, which is co-written and edited by George. The problem with this series is that each story is written by another author and the quality (at least for my taste) is prettyt uneven. I loved some of the stories and had a difficult time fighting through others. Either way, overall I liked the books (Important note - I was able to get only the first two and cannot guarantee that all are as good). I don't know how much into books you are and if you have read classics like Stephen King? If not, you just have to. I didn't like some of his newer books but have always been a huge fan. Misery, Salem's Lot, George Stark (if I remember the name correctly) and many, many other of his novels were masterpieces IMHO. I would also recommend the Coldfire Triloby written by Celia S. Friedman. I have read it a long time ago but I remember to have really enjoyed it. As you can see, I don't have many recommendations outside of fantasy/sci-fi and horror, but if you like similar literature, I have a lot of other recommendations. Just let me know...
the wheel of time series is excellent, and from everyone I know that has read both it and The Song of fire and Ice, the universally prefer WoT.
Just finished "The long Earth", a co-work of Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. I used to be a big fan of Pratchett's books and even though I didn't like the last few a lot, I'm still a little disappointed. The story line is interesting and I like some of the characters but oferall it was well… boring. The next on my list is a book I know I'll enjoy - The World of Ice and Fire: The Official History of Westeros and The World of A Game of Thrones
Is the "Wheel of time" series realy good? Im about to start the "Inheritance cycle" but i may as well try the Jordan books .
That isn't to say it's perfect, it is long and has some down parts or drawn out parts, but everyone I know into that sort of thing loves it. For reference it is #12 on the NPR Top 100 Scifi and Fantasy list and have a 4.6/5.0 rating on good reads with nearly 4k reviews. Just know that you're getting into a series of 14 pretty large books. If you say had an ereader and were interested in "previewing" pm me.
nonfiction- Scattered: How adhd originates. fiction- Trying to read The Hobbit to my 6 and 4 year old girls. Can't wait for riddles in the dark so I can bust out my Gollum voice.
I just finished reading the Dunk and Egg novellas and now I'm getting started on The World of Ice and Fire and Lord of the Rings simultaneously. Dunk and Egg was awesome and I can't wait for more installments to come out. They were all pretty straightforward reads so I knocked them all out in a few days. The characters were really interesting and I finally learned a lot of important Westerosi history. I had read a bunch of theories involving the "Blackfyres" but I had never heard of them while reading the main series.
I've been reading "Becoming a Supple Leopard" by Kelly Starrett (non-fiction) and "Organization Theory: a Libertarian Perspective" (non-fiction) and The Name of the Win - fiction. All interesting so far.
Since I'm in the business of wedding and portrait photography, I'm reading a crap ton of books on business, marketing, selling, pricing, behavioral and buying psychology, investing, making money, efficiency, etc. No actual photography books, lol, but only because YouTube is better for hands-on stuff. And because I already take awesome photos.
Wheel of Time was literally my wife's favorite series of all-time. A mutual friend of ours introduced it to her and he's obsessed with it, too. I'll have to give it a crack if I have time in between reading books for my career.
