Also his brother's death, his child's death. Truly is amazing how he is keeping it together now and looks to be turning his life around for the good.
Walton has kept tabs on him and he's been in touch. His way of reciprocating when Odom kept his spirits up when his playing time dwindled and he was suffering though back ailments. Welcome to our new fellows from Scout.com. Thoughtful, well written and concise posts.
I've seen the photos and watched an interview with Odom recently. His last rehab stint in San Diego went really well according to Odom himself and his doctors/caretakers.
I know my inclusion of him might look tacky, and I know he's been through a lot. We were coming off a title defense that year and while lost players, I thought Odom would really help us. In that moment he just looked lazy. He is #5 over more disgusting Mavs.
I came to Scout (used to be Fanhome) in 02. I liked it because every other board was beyond immature and crap posting. The rules and guidelines there really drew in the best posters. I believe EE was there around that time and pv and Doak arrived soon after. Even when the board crashed hard, losing probably 3/4 of its members, I, at least, stayed because I'd rather have a quiet board than go to ESPN or FB or something like that.
It's crazy that I never heard of Scout because I've been on the internet / message boards forever... or at least since Al Gore invented the interweb. Most of us are transplants from ClubLakers. We had 10,000 members and probably 1000 who were active. Then the owner of that site disappeared for long stretches and the site would crash monthly. Barnstable knew it was only a matter of time before it was gone forever and created LakersBall. As suspected, ClubLakers crashed for good about a month after LakersBall was open for business. If you haven't noticed, we try to keep it mature, friendly, and spirited. The only thing we're really missing is the Lakers winning.
We had a issue with a new owner about 10 years ago, so that's probably it. It was one stop forum of general, team, and all of the misc stuff. I can't remember exactly what happened, maybe EE can help on that, but we lost at least 3/4 of our members. Only a few boards were still active; NY, LA, and the Bulls but with lack of new members, the number slowly faded. Anyway, it looks like Doak and EE made a good choice for our new home.
Another Scout refugee here. I joined Scout in 2002 after toiling around on Fanhome.com and TheScoreboards.com (or that may have been concurrent.) Originally started posting about the Lakers on OregonLive.com when they were playing the Blazers in the playoffs and I got wind of Blazer fans dissing the Lakers.
So @Barnstable with all these refugees what vetting process are you implementing to protect us? I kid I kid... Welcome to the machine folks glad to see ya Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
