I don't think it was botched surgery. He had unsuccessful surgery in that it was supposed to address an issue, but it didn't. He had a cyst successfully removed. Winshorst reported that the tissue around the area didn't heal properly, and he didn't give rehab enough time. Windhorst suggested that the big problem was conditioning because of improper rehab. Fine. We have three months to get him rehabbing properly.

Rare to find a smoking gun in these cases, but I looked at Mozgov on b2b vs. longer rests.
    B2B: shot 54%, picked up 5.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.3 assists.
    1-2 days: 6.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.4 assists, shot 57%
    3+ days of rest: 10.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 0.7 assists, shot 59%.

Suggests that when his knee was inflamed, he wasn't very good. When the knee was cool, he was pretty good. Rehab that man.

Of course they thought it was bad. Forget the signing. When have Cavs fans, true ones, have any thing nice or unbiased to say to Lakers fans. Nothing.

You had good intentions of wanting to be as informed as possible about our new player. That's good. But a terrible place to get the right pros and cons.

Who cares? Their opinion is irrelevant. They weren't laughing last season when Mozgov was beasting. He. Was. Not. Healthy.

He is not trash and I could care less what Cavalier fans think of him. Did you watch him in 2015? He made a HUGE difference for them. Just look at look at their record and defensive numbers before they got him. He gave them size, defense, a roll man and a great finisher, a very good screen setter, and rebounded for them as well.

How many times does it need to be said the guy was NOT healthy last season? They rushed him back. He never recovered fully. As a result he wasn't in good shape. That's not his fault. A team is supposed to protect the player from himself. It's not like he was healthy and struggled too. That's not what happened. He should've never been rushed back and he would've been fine if that's the case.

If Mozgov gets himself right and there is no reason why he shouldn't he's definitely at the very least a good, solid starter. He's a huge upgrade over Hibbert at pretty much everything. All this talk about Biyumbo who I like, but he was a backup last season and didn't really make a huge impact until the playoffs while Mozgov was pretty consistent all season long when he got to Cleveland.

Last night before free agency, someone was jealous that Whiteside got a meeting with Dallas and said that they hope he flops in Dallas and ends up being the next Dampier/Diop signing for them. A few others joined him in wishing Whiteside ill will if he went to Dallas.

I said that on the contrary, if he went to Dallas, I'd hope he plays well and lives up to the contract. I just wanted good karma for our free agency night, and look what happened :(

Hated this signing last night, hate it today. 4 years 64 mil for Mozgov, lol. ESPN, for one, is killing us today over this and I can't disagree with them. The deal makes us look pathetic. I wasn't expecting Durant, DeRozan, and Whiteside, but I was expecting to not scrape the bottom of the FA barrel night one.

I know the mozgov deal is equivalent to what he was paid under old cba but i didn't thinkhe was worth that contract either, considering his age mainly

How much was he overpayed by? 3-4 million per year? In the grand scheme of things, 3 million is peanuts and it's not worth handicapping our free agency over. We signed a starting center in Day One of free agency. We're no longer desperate and now have the upper hand, giving us a better chance of landing a quality wing. That's worth overpaying.

only way i'll pan this move is if he turns out to be damaged goods. because that should have been foreseeable. if he's healthy, i applaud the FO for identifying a realistic target and getting him. people laughed at portland last year for aminu and ed davis, and they looked smart for it later.

People laughed at Portland for Ed Davis? I was bummed we didn't keep Davis, I thought it was smart of them to swoop in on him and we were idiots for letting him walk to wait on Aldridge.

1.2 points, 1.6 rebounds for an entire playoff. 16.5 million per. I am pretty sure I could have gotten those numbers in the NBA right now. I am 38 and I'm 6'2 260.

I really don't think many of us are going to reach middle ground on this. This is far from the worst thing we'll see this summer. Heck our next contract we give out could be even worse. :D

    I'll try to remain optimistic!

I don't think this "gives us the upper hand" in signing a wing. We filled a need, yes. But in doing so, we're currently the laughing stock of the sports world. Outside of some optimistic fans and a select few level-headed reporters in the media, the vast majority of general fans and sports media are laughing at us right now. Not exactly a good look for when we pitch to the wings. I don't think Parsons is going to be jumping with joy to play with Mozgov, but he's definitely hearing some of his fellow players, reporters, and social media clowning our organization right now.

According to a C-bags website, Moz was target #2 for starting center if they can't land Horford.

Lakers came in decisively to ensure Moz didn't get bid up. I think it was a deft move indeed.

Remember the Jerry West-Brian Cardinal story...
I feel like this is the response to the Ding article... Mitch will be fired after the season and this is his revenge in advance.

I think it may give us the upper hand in signing a wing, maybe not a very good one, but a body that fits that position. It does so because mediocre free agent wings are are now saying, "wow the Lakers are throwing out crazy cash for anyone!".
