That was a nothing episode. So much time wasted on maybe 2 minor developments. I hope that kid gets eaten like now, his brother too.

Yeah I agree it was a weak episode, and especially so for a finale. The season started super strong but tapered off.

First two episodes were great. Then it slowed down quick with the Enid only and Morgan only episodes, got kind of crazy with Glenn "death" episode and everything else has been meh.

It felt like they were building towards this episode and then didn't go through with a heck of a lot. Sure they killed Diana but I really wasn't that invested in her character so it didn't matter to me.

I will say that comic readers recognize that last moment and I wonder if they're going through with that plan. It'd certainly be tense...

It was a buildup to nothing. I get that it's just a midseason finale and not a season finale, but you gotta give us more than just a drawn out setup to the second half of the season. The first half really did lose a lot of steam as it went on, felt like they were just treading water until the second half of the season where they will really get to work. They should just truncate the episodes in a season if they're gonna keep doing it like that.

Well I mean things are going to heat up quickly in the 2nd half but you're right. They should have had a more exciting mid-season finale.

Well in the comics I forget how exactly, but the kid ends up in danger while they're walking out. The kid gets attacked and the mother that Rick is hooking up with can't let the kid go so she's now in danger. Rick sees all this and instead of charging in to save them, he lets them die so he and his son can get away. I think with the kid talking and drawing attention to himself, they're setting that up right now.

Not to mention it's not really a spoiler but the preview of the next episode teases the introduction of Negan who is one of the best characters ever in the comics and teases the introduction of a whole new side of Walking Dead.

That's what I vaguely remembered from the comics as well.

I thought that might be the angle they would go for, but I hope she survives. I like her character.

as for the episode, meh. I hoped like everyone else that read the comics this was going to be the point that this happened:

Carl gets half his face blown off.

Yeah I thought there were going to go for that definitely. I was disappointed that they didn't.

I'm rereading the comics again and I got to this part.
the kid gets attacked and the mother tries to get Rick to help him but Rick keeps on going, she gets attacked and wouldn't let go of Carl's hand so Rick ends up chopping off her hand. That would have made that last episode some what better. Also what happens afterward is Carl's eye shot and the group fighting off the herd, that would have been terrific to see.

Yeah it's been a while since I read that specific book, but that's what I was getting at for sure. Unless you read the comics though, that scene is really not all that telling or intense. It's hard to really know the context.

It was a disappointing mid-season finale.

Can't disagree there but where the story goes on from now can be very interesting if they decide to stick close to the comics. I was always wary about the Alexandria part for the show, its essentially another "Prison" scenario where they find a safe place but theres countless issues to deal with. But Negan, he's going to change the dynamic of the show me thinks.

Yeah Negan brings a whole new direction of the show that hasn't even been touched on yet. I'm really looking forward to that whole arc. That was some of the most fun reading because it was really different and out there.

The Walking Dead returned today, and it was absolutely epic.

We all know TWD half seasons always start off strong, let's hope they can keep it up throughout the season and end strong this time.

Haven't read or heard what anyone else has thought of the premiere so far, but I thought it was excellent. Everything I love about the show with a lot of attention to details.

I think it might be one of my favorite episodes of the series.
Like I see a clear direction for the show now. I never knew how it should end or how the plot should progress. Now it's clear to me that the basic concept of this show is Rick Grimes trying to create a better world for his son Carl through this horrible zombie apocalypse. And I like that.

One of the best episodes of the show so far! And such a terrific shout out to the comics. My wife didn't know what was happening and took it all pretty hard, but I saw it all coming and while it was still raw and emotional I was also elated at the representation of the comic.

Called it one episode too soon lol

I'm glad they had the balls to do it because I was disappointing they wimped out on...

    Cutting off Rick's hand

This episode was fantastic from start to finish even though I knew how things were going to play out with the kid and his family. I loved the beginning with Darryl, and Negan's biker squad. I was like WTF just happened haha

Yeah, great episode. Daryl's answer to the Negan bikers was probably my favorite single action scene so far. The last stand for Alexandria scene later was pretty great too. They even jerked us around with Glenn again. For a moment they had me convinced they were actually going to kill him off.
