Last episode was better, but still with plot holes and problems here and there. Why did their truck start so easily while every car was being burned? If you saw a neighbor of yours chowing down on your dog would you walk up to him and ask him how he's doing? sigh.

Better though. The characters are finally fleshing out in an interesting way. I hate the father completely. The kids are annoying. The mother seems like the only one who might be worth it. The Hispanic family seems like they get it a little more, but the father will get them killed with his weird stubbornness.

So instead of waiting for all 6 episodes to come out I decided, why not let's just start watching it. I'm enjoying it so far, its not the greatest but the show has promise and I'm willing to stick with it for the time being.

Absolutely do not like the dad character, I feel like he is going to get someone killed before he realizes the scope of things, maybe his son. The druggie son is interesting so far, he's the one that has some sort of idea of what is going on. His sister is meh right now but who knows, she played a pretty badass character on The 100 so who knows where she's headed. The mother is the only one I can form some sort of connection to, shes calm but calculated and seems to be playing the Rick role for this series. The Hispanic family, the husband kind of has an idea of whats going on but I think he'll be alone by the time the season ends.

I really like the premise of the show, seeing the zombie apocalypse in the early stages is rarely seen in shows or movies. Here's our chance to see it play out with the knowledge of how the rest of their world will turn out. Yes there are plenty of plot holes and there will be plenty more, I'm just hoping it gets better and we can eventually see it tie in with the main series.

This episode was better. But it was still only pretty good when this one with society starting to break down should have been awesome. Just feels like they are hitting singles when they should be crushing home runs.

I thought this last one was about on the same level as the others. Meh

But I'll keep watching of course lol

Question though, does anyone else remember them talking about a military outpost in California that was supposed to still be intact, that they talked about in The Walking Dead? I seem to remember them talking about it, and wonder if this episode is hinting at exactly that.

I don't recall a military outpost in Cali, but they DID say it would tie into the original series in some way. Maybe that's the plan? Introduce that parts of LA have survived the attacks and eventually try to trek cross country to LA and see if they can get to sanctuary?

Was planning on waiting for all the episodes to come out but ended up checking it out anyways. I've enjoyed it so far. Definitely an interesting take on the universe. While I think some of the characters are behaving stupidly, it does kinda make sense. I don't think it's clear how quickly or effectively a bite can spread the infection yet. So while I think he's stupid knowing everything that I know, I can't judge Travis too harshly. There is no history of zombies (even fictional) in this guys world. And all of a sudden within a day, we expect him to kill his neighbors and friends without hesitation? I hope he comes around soon though. I like most of the other characters. Madison is cool and I've liked her actress since I saw her in Gone Girl and then House of Cards. Nick is showing a lot of promise, but I hope his drug addiction doesn't make him become too one dimensional. Nothing too interesting from Alycia ... but she's cute (don't judge me, I know she's in high school in the show, but her actress is 22) and it took us two seasons to get an attractive character in the main show (Maggy).

OK. I have always hated zombie movies or games (just idea, not a gamer....but have worked camera at multiple Xbox and PS4 world press events for E3....seems like 50% of the games) Then I see so many here whose opinions I value loving this show. Like when I'm on Amazon basing my purchase sight unseen on the equipment and products with many hundreds of user reviews averaging right next to five stars.

Was years late to the party with Breaking Bad until family and friends urged me to check it out, and then binge watched it on Netflix and almost was sad when I finished. What a ride!

Should a no interest zombie hater like me check this out? :p

I wish CL was still around because I could direct you to the first Walking Dead thread there where I sounded just like you. I hated Zombies, the idea of anything dead coming back half freaked me out, and half felt stupid. The Walking Dead changed all that for me. I love this show, and as much as some complain about it, and it's ups and downs with good to great episodes and seasons, everyone still seems to watch it because I feel in the end, it's still a really really great show. It's more of a character study than anything else, where you get to watch how some characters evolve and grow into some bad**** but the practical effects and makeup they have for the zombies make the show incredible IMO.

I recommend just binge watching TWD, just don't start watching Fear The Walking Dead because that show is sucking so far lol

So...LOL you're not saying check it out, instead binge watch it. OK will have to try it after last 2 episodes of 1st season of Narcos that I watched the 1st 8 past 2 nights while dog sitting. I've just never been down with the rotting flesh, gimping along, growling types of characters. :D

If you do decide to watch it LT, keep in mind that the show starts off a little slow. You have the luxury of binge watching it so it might not be as bad compared to waiting a week between episodes. There will be some great/amazing episodes and then follows it up with a "bad" episode. Like Barnstable said, its more of a character study than anything else. You get to see the evolution of characters and some of them have developed really well.

Just don't go into it expecting a show at the same quality as Breaking Bad. It occasionally has episodes that reach that level, but is nowhere near as consistent.

And there we have the latest Fear the Walking Dead episode without a single zombie in it.

We just hit the bottom of boring for this show. Nowhere to go but up from here.

Not having a walker in an episode is fine for me. It's still early on in the out break and they are in a military safe zone. They were walker free for a couple miles radius and as we saw when the mother left the fenced off area, they are doing patrols.

It was a boring episode though, sure things kicked off towards the end but It's hard to like a character development episode when I don't really like any of them so far.

Curiosity will keep me watching, and thankfully we might start getting a smarter, more aware Trevor (that's the dad right).

I wouldn't have had a problem with there being no zombies in this one if the episode wasn't so boring. Just nothing to care about so far.

Like I said though, it takes a while for a show to find it's stride.

    Nail - head.

Ok I have a great idea for a spin off. We will call it Fear the Walking Dead, only there won't actually be any walking dead and nothing really to fear. Brilliant!

I have to disagree. I have no problem with an episode without zombies or a very slow-burning show. Conceptually, I like everything. Starting off before the zombie apocalypse, showing us the chaos of it all going down, showing us a military safe-zone in the early stages. All of it sounds like the premise of a really cool show.

... It's just that they haven't executed it very well at all. I just don't care about most of these characters. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt since they don't know all the details that we know from watching the main show, but it just gets frustrating and boring.

I agree with you on the poor execution whatever their plan is.

I also would be fine with a slow build up, but it's been four episodes and I have not seen one single moment yet that even slightly raised my blood pressure.

But I do think the show's fatal flaw is the lack of interest in any of the cast of characters. It's like I want to see a major influx of walkers so this cast can all get bitten and we can move on to some interesting people.

Yep. Slow burn? Fine, but you need to still be interesting! So far it's just been far, far too slow. They're trying so hard to give us development with the characters with background information that we simply didn't need or want.

That whole first episode was given to us in order to make us care about this family by knowing what's going on in their circle. You know how to make us care about someone? Put them in danger or stress and let the moment dictate our emotions. I was invested in the crack head's life after that first episode. That character had so much potential. Now? Eh screw him. If he gets taken off to die I literally do not care at all. The mother is the only half way interesting character now and I really don't care much about her either.
