Carol is a freaking G She's just transformed into one of my favorite characters. Also I love that they have Sasha playing the role that Andrea played for the town in the comic books. I like Sasha so much more than Andrea in this show... even though I don't even like Sasha that much.
Spoiler I thought he was just thinking about what he was doing by taking the gun as if he was betraying her trust
Spoiler I thought it was two things: 1. He said he'd take over the town so he's just sort of feeling out that kind of power and 2. what Barns said about how he's sort of betraying the trust of the town a bit. They're getting soft and even though I've read the book, I wonder how they change things in the show. For instance they've only once touched on herds and they never really talked about it after they saw it. They don't necessarily HAVE to talk about it, but it'd be a good idea I think to explain a little more about how the zombies work.
Really enjoyed last night's episode. There wasn't a lot of action or killing (outside of the revenge for the horse) but there was a lot going on. - Spoiler Carol's threat to the kid was awesome. -Good to see Daryl have a purpose (something awful happens the final episode involving him. He better not die. He warned fans to have their kleenex ready and he's on talking dead after the finale) -I took the gun scene differently. I think he was contemplating killing him. He's teetering on becoming unhinged (they've been dancing around that a lot this season). They're used to being animalistic and taking what they want on the outside.
Carol's convo with the kid was amazing. I'd choose the cookies. I agree with your take on Rick. I think the last scene of him leaning against the wall confirms it.
Spoiler I took Rick reaching for his gun was an instinctual response to his intuition of good vs bad people. I think the husband is an abusive alcoholic (they highlighted the significance of him drinking) and when he reaches for her, even though it's in a caring way, Rick's gut senses danger with him. They, he sees that it was in fact in a caring way and he feels like he may be losing it, then goes over to the wall to bond with the Walker.
Spoiler You hit the nail on the head in regards to that specific character, Punk. That's exactly what's happening between Rick and the husband.
I came to this thread to see what Punk would say about the final two scenes - the gun and the wall. Mission accomplished. I'm leaving again
He's unhinged or you're right. I can't see it as anything else - and I like that. These last two episodes have drawn me in again.
The human unconscious (especially a traumatized one) prefers the certainty of misery to the misery of uncertainty, seeking the familiar during times of stress; with novelty being stressful, even if seemingly "good". That's what I think he was doing at the wall. what'd Smith say?
I thought they had two gates there. One with bars that looks kind of flimsy, and a second gate that's just a solid sheet of metal.
Smith took the wall scene to show a kind of kindred take between Rick and the walkers. Outside, the walkers were the problem. Inside, Rick is going to be the problem. Your take also makes sense of the wall, I think. I like thinking there could be two pretty different ways things go here. Spoiler Will Rick and that woman (I don't know her name) end up together? Will Rick destroy her husband? Will Rick take over the town? There were two walls on the compound - an outer (heavy) chain link one - and an inner solid one. I read only the first graphic novel (on a friend's recommendation, after enjoying 30 Days of Night) and kinda hated it (before there was even talk of making it into a series) - sorta like I'd disliked much of Walking Dead. I couldn't stand to go back and read any more of it, but I'm loving this season right now.
Either way, i'm surprised how long this community has lasted. The walls are definitely stronger than the chainlink ones at the prison, but judging by that teenage girl from the last episode, it doesn't seem like it's that hard to scale. And I agree with Rick, there needs to be a guard in the tower like NOW.
This half of the season has been excellent!! Spoiler: Comic stuff I knew Gabriel was going to be a traitor because the priest in the comic was, but I was really sad to see Noah get killed. All because of that b**** running away. The scenes where Noah, and the son died were brutal.
