I'm sincerely willing to give this newly configured FO a chance, but this is really a blown opportunity. So we don't have a Prez or VP. Maybe Jesse and Joey are coming up to take that spot and Ry West is assistant GM and head of scouting. You gotta start giving these guys titles so that the onus falls on them. It really does look like it's Rambis with Phil having his ear.

Hopefully they can clarify that soon, cause it's just bad form to operate in the dark like this. Some things absolutely need to be held close to the vest, but where's the transparency in all of this? f*** the sources forcing the narrative...an exec from the Lakers needs to take this head on and steer the buss back on course.

    Hey guys,
reports are true and line up with what I've been hearing/sharing the last few days. Kurt has gained a lot of influence in basketball operations. Jeanie asked Ramona to leave the true nature of Kurt's responsibilities out of this, but he's the front end for all upper management (Jeanie, Linda). Rob technically reports to Jeanie but has a dotted line report to Kurt. Even AEG is being slowly told that most important business matter should go through Kurt first. He'll pick and choose what to pass on.

Personally, this is very upsetting to me. Not because of the power Kurt has, but because of how he obtained it. In my opinion, he's an amateur business man and has no business (no pun intended) being in the position he's in currently. I'm also extremely concerned that if he ends up in pitch meetings to big time FAs, just because of the media reports about the Rambis family, they will turn the other way. I'm actually going to approach the AEG guys as a fan and ask them to see if they can keep Rambis out of the in person meetings at the very least. I rarely do this, and I have no authority over anything basketball related, but quite frankly, having watched what's happened the last few days, I can't be silent anymore.

    Stay tuned...

I could see Kurt with so much power soon that .... that ..... it would be too frightening to even write negatively about him if you're a beat writer covering the team. Possibility of him ruining your career and life by making a phone call. If sirron was still here don't know if he would even dare mock Kurt like he used to Boron. Might wind up getting LB shut down.

Rambis youth was a thing. Like Hitler youth.

Internally, they feel as though Ryan isn't ready. I believe I've written a more lengthy explanation earlier. But basically, they see Kurt as a "senior mentor" for Pelinka, who doesn't have as much basketball experience as Kurt. Ryan is still learning in the Laker's eyes but they definitely value him.

What a cluster****. Rambis with any kind of power is woese than Pelinka running things (and that was already BAAAAAD).
This a nightmare and i want to wake up :(

Pelinka isn't a bad guy, but he's very evidently (as evidenced by his job performance) a novice, and needs proper guidance. This instability in the front office is doing the exact opposite of that, and Kurt (another inexperienced exec) is the wrong guy to be offering this guidance. It's firmly a case of "the blind leading the blind" as we sometimes say...

Thing is, we're not a freakin Beaconsfield Lakers but LA Lakers. We could and should hire the best GM out there. Get a great coach, superb medical staff, let people with knowledge run things and learn from them. Kurt, Linda, Rob, Vogel... will get us nowhere. If it wasn't for Bron, we would be weeks away from seeing empty seats at Staples.
Oh how the mighty have fallen...

Changing the thread title to reflect Jeannie's decision regarding not hiring a replacement POBO.

When you play the Game of Groans, you whine or you crie.

Chaos is a bladder. Many who try to control it fail, only to get "pissed off" and never get to cry in that underwear again.

#LakersBa...naw I'll leave that alone haha.

Appropriately, this applies to season 8 as well.
