@therealdeal I'd love to see these guys form their own young'ns version of the famous breakfast club MJ established in Chicago with Pip and Harper. Great for team building, chemistry, and accountability. Hoping they can get the #2 pick to buy in, too.
^^^ with Byron (all Lakers business.... all the time) Scott, Kobe Bryant, JC with some first team rookie swag and a burning to get better, Julius Randle who had his rookie year crushed but is now better for it physically (weight and foot repair) and I see, "alpha dog" ......... #2 will be buying in I have no doubt. Plus obviously they both came from highly competitive pinnacle of college game programs.
Yeah man I really want to see them all band together. I know we're looking for guys to give long-term deals to and I think all four of the young players we'll have this summer could fit that description. I know they have a lot to learn first and certainly more to pick up from Kobe, but it really feels like these guys are internally driven. It feels like they don't need Kobe to teach them that and I love it.
I can imagine seeing Kobe walking into the gym seeing Black, JC, Randle and #2 already working out and smiling.
Worth a look when you have 9 minutes if you haven't seen Tarik's 2014-2015 highlights yet. I'm looking forward to how much improved he's going to be next year. There's some pretty impressive stuff and power in there.
Lol, how did Black get open so often for all those dunks. He got some nice post move and a motor for rebounding. Nice find by Mitch!
some good stuff in that video. noteworthy: -really good hands -good use of either hand to finish or block shots -good fundamentals in terms of keeping the ball high on spins in traffic -effective use of convincing upfakes -better hops than one might expect from his body type if he can get himself a udonis haslem 15 footer, he'll be super valuable.
Away from bball: -great attitude on/off the floor -aggressive and fiery competitor (dunking on Gobert and staring him down) I think he makes for a tremendous role player and is a fantastic complement to Randle and Okafor/Towns.
I feel like we shouldn't sleep on Black starting next to Okafor. They both can pick and roll, Black would be great at helping on switches and do some extra banging around the basket. New nickname for tar, T-BO!
It's possible. If we completely strike out in free agency and we slide Randle to sf, Black kind of has to play pf as of right now. We don't have anyone else on the roster. We could have worse frontlines than Okafor/Black/Randle.
I really would love to see them on the floor together. We got to make sure every stone is turned and we don't sleep on anyone. 5 best players on the floor baby.
After seeing Golden State play small ball, couldn't help but think of Aldridge on the team potentially at Center. It would be an interesting front line we could field that would be potentially very skillful and good passers. With either Towns or Okafor...
They want to establish themselves and start work on their own legacies...while restoring the franchise back to relevance. It could be similar to what has been established in Golden State and for six million years in San Antonio. None of this "superstar let's team up together and make it easier for ourselves" crap-o-la.
