Well, now Orlando is pretty much out of reach. I'm really being greedy and looking at those two damn Philly wins. :D

If we would have lost those two, we'd be locked in a 3rd.

I agree its unlikely now, but we're not out of the woods yet. a win against NYC for the Magic would probably do it for us which is likely. But unless its a done deal I'm not breathing a sigh of relief just yet

Knowing that we're realistically not going to win 5 out of the next 7 games, I'm so glad I can finally start cheering for this team to win again.

Not so quick! Although I am relieved too that the 4th spot is a lock, we still have a chance to slip past Philly.

We're not going anywhere. There's absolutely no chance we beat the Clippers and it's unlikely we beat Dallas. The Kings is a toss-up and we'll beat the Wolves. We're losing to the Nuggets on the second night of a back-to-back IN Denver.

We're the fourth seed in the lottery and likely to pick 5th. Woohoo!

I haven't seen enough of turner, but I'm thoroughly unimpressed with kaminsky. not strong, not athletic, and I actually think his hoop iq is overrated, as is his outside shooting ability. he uses his height well against smaller players and reaps the benefit of playing with 4 three point threats at a time in college. I think he's a weaker olynyk.

I would compare him to maybe a craftier Kelly, but it's the same idea. Turner though is an uncoordinated, ungainly kid with so-so athleticism and kind of skinny. Watching him run is pretty painful actually. He doesn't move well at all.

Simmed the lottery 10 times again because I'm obsessed; here are the following results: 4,5,4,1,6,5,1,5,2,2

In the event that we get number 1 and Orlando and another team behind the Magic gets in, say the Kings, it will be a nerve wracking 60 seconds to see the Sixers at number 6:D:D many furniture will be broken I would think.

What if we get the #1 and Orlando offers Vucevic and the #5. Anyone take it?

this guy takes it. no guarantee okafor or towns will be as good (possible both will be better, but bird in the hand...), plus #5 pick could be a very good player, too. don't think Orlando would do this, though. they'd probably try to swing it without the pick. at that point, I say no, mostly because by the time the lakers are in rebuild mode.

I think implicit in my response is that I don't think there's a surefire superstar in the draft. this isn't a Duncan/LeBron/Durant year, wherein it's obvious that there's a franchise talent at the top. it's more like last year, where there's a handful of guys any of whom one could tell me that in five years they ended up the best player in this draft and I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I've read and simmed a lot of results myself and I am noticed something: We're more likely to land at #5 or in the top 3 (If you add all the percentages up). Meaning when lottery night occurs, if we make it to #5 without our name being picked, its time to get excited because there is only a 9% or 10% of us arriving at #4.

Top 3 or #5 is are most likely ending spot.

I probably would. We would fill two holes in that trade. 1) Get a good center who can score and rebound 2) Able to luckily draft a wing still in Winslow and or Johnson with that rookie salary which is beneficial.

I'd most certainly trade the #1 pick for the right player or combination of players. Shoot, make the right offer and I would trade any high pick 5 and up for a really good player that's on the young side. We have Randle and Clarkson as a great young base right now, so another rookie isn't exactly necessary for our future at this point IMO.

I don't know if I agree with this take. There might not be a Durant or a LeBron or a Kobe here, but there's plenty of potential Currys, Hardens (hehe), Griffins, etc. All kinds of guys who have high floors and maybe limited ceilings, but guys we can definitely build around. It's also a deep draft in that I think there's a good chance of having 10-12 legitimate NBA players in the 1st round. Okafor, Towns, WCS, Johnson, Winslow, Kaminsky, Dekker, Grant, and (surprise) Rondae Hollis-Jefferson I think are all guys who can and will make a career in the NBA. Then there's guys like Russell, Turner, Mudiay, Hezonja, and Oubre who I think could end up being NBAers as well.

That's a pretty deep draft of rosterable talent.

The draft is pretty deep, look at the SF position. I would bet that 1 of them develops into Butler type of player, you just have to pick the right one.

Yes. Vucevic would be an all star if he played on a decent team. IMO. 19pts 11 reb this year. You add that with the a solid SF picked at number 5.

    Clarkson
    kobe
    johnson
    Randle
    Vucevic

Thats a great young core and thats not even adding in FA stars/fillers

Personally (in a somewhat realistic scenario) I'd love to see Kris middleton and okafor on this team next year. That would be awesome.

The previous time I simmed the lottery we landed in the top 5 all 10 ten times.

Yeah, even if it's 5, I could care less as long as we have the pick in hand. You're right, though, I have noticed the same pattern.
