What a tankastic season. Minny and Philadelphia got destroyed tonight. Fortunately, as I said earlier, we are playing the Warrors, so...

Also, we have a very difficult schedule. If you look at our opponents, you might this is not that bad -- but the end of the season is brutal with some back to back games, and only a day rest between them. Of course, our games against PHI and MIN are crucial, and if I were Byron, I'd sit all veterans and play our young guys as much as possible. Kelly at the 3, or Kelly at the 5, I don't care. We should just tank those.

Here's how the schedule looks like:

    Mon, Mar 16
    @
    [IMG]Warriors

    (LOSS)

    Thu, Mar 19
    vs
    [IMG]Jazz

    (tank it if necessary)

    Sun, Mar 22
    vs
    [IMG]76ers

(see above; must tank, since we'll be rested. Actually, even if we win it, #4 should be still very safe)

    Tue, Mar 24
    @
    [IMG]Thunder

    (LOSS)

    Wed, Mar 25
    @
    [IMG]Timberwolves

(see 76ers, except this is on their court and it's b2b; we might simply lose it without tank)

    Fri, Mar 27
    @
    [IMG]Raptors

    (LOSS)

    Sun, Mar 29
    @
    [IMG]Nets

    (LOSS?! see Utah)

    Mon, Mar 30
    @
    [IMG]76ers

(the game is in Philly, b2b; Philly should win this, so LOSS. and even if we win it, we're safe at this point)

    Wed, Apr 1
    vs
    [IMG]Pelicans

    (LOSS)
    ===========================================================================

Basically, we can win two of these; not a big deal, if we are happy with #4. We must lose everything else. And Nets and Jazz worry me, because they suck. If Booz and Lin get minutes and do damage, and one of our youngesters has a killer game.... ouch.

Too close tonight. Clarkson had a nice game. Bounced back after a couple subpar outings. That's good to see. He definitely got fouled on that last drive. Glad they didn't call it. Hit a clutch shot and two clutch FT. Game was pretty perfect. Clarkson was good. We all fought hard. We lost.

They need to dig deep and find a way to lose just like all the other tank teams are doing. Can Byron pull it off? I doubt but hey, we can hope.

We seem to play to the level of competition so I still think we will lose some of those games to bad teams. I still think we end up with 20 wins.

I am concerned about so many teams resting starters though. I honestly think we should consider something along the lines even if its just a couple of DNPs for Boozer, etc.

Sounds like Cousins is now talking about "resting", and they have already had Rudy Gay out over the past few games. Could be trouble for the Lakers down the stretch. Right now all the bottom teams are tanking hard and it's going to take a minor miracle to get the Lakers to the 3 spot with so many teams doing everything they can to lose.

I think we should basically give up on that 3rd spot. It's not going to happen. We should try to "defend" #4 as much as possible.

    Update for 3/17:

    SAS @ NYK
    ORL @ HOU

There's nothing to hope for here.

I've got to stop coming in this thread... You guys are so irrational in here! More than any other thread!

    1. We're 3 games "in front" of Orlando and we're 2.5 games "behind" the Sixers. We're closer to one than the other... and it's not the one you're all worried about.

    2. We're losing at THE SAME PACE or WORSE than any team in the bottom five except Minnesota. The only other team doing significant damage is Detroit, who we still have a SIX game "advantage" over and I'm very doubtful that we even win six more games this season.

    3. Very few teams are "tanking harder" than us. Very, very few. "Oh but this team rested so-and-so and the-other-guy!" THAT HASN'T MADE A DIFFERENCE! In our last 10 we're 2-8 and we've lost three games in a row! The only team that's tanking harder than we are right now that we need to be concerned with is Minnesota. They've taken their tanking game to a new level. Otherwise it's not that big of a deal!

You guys are putting a little too much stock into this at the moment. We might not be professional tankers, but we're doing a great approximation of it right now.

I agree guys. I can't even recognize myself anymore... embracing the tank and even making a thread about it -- and to make it worse, it became one of the most popular threads on the forum quickly. Ouch man. :banghead:

    Lol.

To the point, it's a lost season for me. When we don't make the playoffs, the season is over, so for me this season might as we'll be done. In fact I can't wait for it to be, and for the lottery to be here and us to get pick 1-5. That's all I have to look forward to from this. I know what I need to know about our players to know who I want a and don't want back next season. So really I'm just waiting for this nightmare to be over, and for the awfulness of it to result in a great draft pick and signing free agents and us getting back to the playoffs next season. Rooting for the tank is awful, watching this team other than a few bright spots is awful, but it can lead to some great things in the end.

For me I can't wait for the season to be over, but even more than that, I can't wait for the draft lottery so we finally know whether or not we kept the pick. We will also find out whether karma is a thing or not, because compared to these other teams our squad is at least trying (even though I don't agree with Byron's rotations sometimes). Our team has been through so much over the past three years, it just feels like it's time for something to go right for us. If we lose the pick after all this, well it will be crushing, that's for sure.

May 19th can't come fast enough.

I'm with you, but to speak for the freaking out side, I think it's about "how" we're losing and not just the wins/losses. We're almost beating elite teams while the other bottom 6-7 teams are getting annihilated for the most part. The gut reaction is to catastrophize and assume "if we keep playing like we did against GSW, we may finish 11-5 or so to finish out the year." Of course that's unlikely, but it's still scary to think about; and fear is the enemy of rationality.

Not always. I am fearful of naked pictures of Rosie O'Donnell. I find that to be a very rational position as well.
