It wasn't a complete regime change. The scouting crew that has put together our late picks remains intact.

I encourage everyone to click the link. For me it doesn't show his weaknesses video, but it does go over his major flaws in writing as well.

To me Fultz is the most talented guard in the draft. He has an instinctual feel for the game not unlike Russell, but with better athletic tools. I think Fultz is a little more natural of a passer than Russell meaning he's more comfortable playing point although I think both are ideally built to score more than assist or set the table. Fultz has all the natural talent to blow away this draft class, but I'm not sure he has the head to do it. I think as a kid he made a mistake going to Washington and that had a lot to do with his mentality on the floor (lack of effort at times against elite competition). I wonder though if he has the hunger to be great at the game and if he has a joy for the sport. It's easy not to enjoy basketball on a bad team, but he projects to be headed towards one right now.

As of today I have Fultz at #1, but Ball can unseat him if Ball makes a deep run in the tourney. There's just something about Ball that elevates a team that Fultz couldn't capture. Obviously Fultz didn't have Ball's roster talent, but Fultz went just 9-22 with a 13 game losing streak. I need to hear from him exactly how and why that happens and what he'd do to fix it.

Quote from the article that scares me:

There is a difference between being a bad defender and being a bad defender that doesn't care. This is what we have to find out in our interviews and workouts with him. What is his mental, emotional state like.

    We need leaders, not pushovers.

Agreed. It's why Ball can still move in front of him on my draft board (which is Laker focused). Fultz might be the most talented kid, but he'll need a situation where they can keep him happy even with a bad team. Philly might be a disaster for him. Boston would probably be terrific for him. We would probably be nearly as bad as Philly.

If Ball can lead UCLA to at least the final four, I think he goes #1.

i still think ball is playing with more offensive talent at ucla than people seem to realize. everyone's crediting ball, but if even one of those other guys can't shoot, the whole thing could fold.

conversely, fultz was playing with a bunch of third-tier talent. really hard to compare in terms of w/l.

villanova's title last year can't all be pinned to the brilliance of projected second rounder josh hart.

I've openly acknowledged this, but the key to me is 9 wins. A kid as talented as Fultz cannot let that happen. The fact that he had such a hard time making the mental adjustment to a bad team does not bode well for the presumably bad team that's likely to get him.

Ball has talent around him, but UCLA was garbage last year and this year are a tough out. Only additions are him and Leaf.

He's the straw that stirs the drink.

Id still take fultz over ball if given chance. That hitch in balls shot is not fixable imo, it's tweakable but hes gona have much harder time adjusting to pro lvl defenders to get his shot off as oppose to fultz who has an array of moves to get his shot off and make his defender off balance. Defensively they're both bad, i saw glimpes of ball d against cinn, its not much better than dlo or jc, his effort defending PnR is really poor, we gona have problems with the guards on d no matter if its ball or fultz paired with dlo

I think Fultz and Ball are not gonna be franchise players. If the Lakers get the top 2 pick, they trade it with a combo of anyone but ingram, dlo and zubac. If you have to give up one, than Dlo is the one and than you can cover that with Fultz and Ball and hope they turn into superstars.

Yeah. That part of the article jumped out at me too. With the effort and consistency issues we've had out of our games it does give me about of pause about him

Really a tale of two seasons...night and day difference.

Alford can shoot no doubt but if he is shadowed by a tough minded, relentless defender he is a non-factor. Welsh has a nice, money mid-range J yet is no post presence who can dominate the paint. Hamilton can score though not a game-breaker that can take over on his own. Leaf is talented I'll say that. Would he be efficient with any other point man? Maybe... I've seen many of UCLA's games this season so I can't see any other reason why they have succeeded as individuals and collectively. Could be the offense...or could be whoever is running it on the floor.

Put it this way Fultz can help the Lakers win 5 more games.

Ball can help the Lakers win 20 more games.

Im just not buying into ball and his shot, hes gona have problems in the pros.....also Randle attacks the paint cause he has no perimiter gm, Fultz attacks the paint to keep his opponents guessing on D. Russell does not attack the paint, all he does is shoot a mid range or 3's on a screen, he cant take his guy 1 on 1. I'm seeing the same trend with Ball, he doesn't seem to have the handles either to attack his guy on ISO, he does attack on the break but I see Fultz as someone who can and will penetrate the paint and cause havoc on defense, like how we get bent over anytime a guard gets into our paint area.
