Well, Tarik is an solid NBA player, who is very strong, and Upshaw has played about 8 games lately, so... have to keep that in mind.

I think its really going to be up to him. What I mean is that Byron clarified today that he isn't really in great shape right now, but he will certainly be getting chances to play in Summer League. I think he really going to have to turn some heads on this Lakers staff during these games if he wants to get a contact with us. I'm definitely rooting for him but he's got some work to do

One play but I'd say he's not really that physical on defense.

Yeah; he doesn't get bowled over, but he does let Tarik exert himself to get a shot that's not a bad shot.

What? Boo!! Short sighted Pincus. Do what you have to do Lakers. Lose Sacre, then Kelly, then Swaggy in that order, to keep Upshaw if he keeps his part of the bargain and get the PG backup.

I like Upshaw's potential too but I'd cut Kelly before Sacre, LT. Upshaw would likely spend alot of time in the D-league, which makes our C rotation Hibbert/Black. We need more depth at that position.

I know. I'm being a little facetious. He just doesn't really understand how great/dangerous a kid of his stature has it in that city. Not yet anyway, he hasn't been there enough.

Yeah I mean it's one play and it's impossible to get context, but he certainly seemed to let Tarik out work him for position. I think he might be relying on his ability to sky for blocked shots a little too much and not moving his feet enough, but that all comes back to conditioning.

Yeah I'm serious. Dude was the point guard of the team last season but only averaged 3.5 assist in 25 minutes. He just tries to score like he's Kobe and especially in the pre-season, he ball-hogged like crazy. It seemed to me that he felt that chip on his shoulder of being a #46 draft pick and wanted to prove himself so he wanted to increase his stats by taking as many shots as he could. I know most people here on this forum likes him but sorry, I personally don't. Like I said, maybe I'll come around to liking him more this upcoming season but we'll see.

13.9 FGA in 32.6 minutes and he's taking as many shots as he could? Please stop.

His teammates weren't known for being able to put the ball in the hoop. He's not your traditional PG (moving to SG this season). I view him as a cross between the 2 positions. More than his shooting and passing, I love his effort on defense. He's a willing defender that will only improve with Hibbert, Bass, and Randle behind him.

I really think you'll grow to appreciate what he brings. I know I'm excited.
