Brandon needs to top 6/7/6 from Simmons and i'll be happy ;).

...saw those highlights from Simmons. Like his passing ability and court vision, intangibles that can't be taught.

It's too bad he's playing on the Sixers because those passes will be wasted...

He also has a tendency to make the cool flashy pass, but they aren't always putting his teammates in the best position. He needs some leadership over there. Amazing vision and ability though.

I'm excited to see what Ingram can do though. Ingram has a different set of tools.

This is why i think, that if we had the no.1 pick, we would also picked Simmons (even though Luke says he's an Ingram guy) :). Either way... it sucked to be C Bags this year (well, it always SUCK but you know where im going with this) :D

Ingram is a better fit for our group given his potential on offense. Simmons' outside shot looks funky to me so early on defenders will give him that until he becomes efficient with it. Those playmaking abilities would contrast with Russell's who wants to direct and lead. In a perfect Laker world, Simmons' AND Ingram on the same team...there would be hell to pay.

I really don't think so actually. Simmons has that elite talent, that's true. He's got elite court vision and is a good rebounder. However, he really reinforced the fact that he has no jump shot whatsoever and has trouble finishing in the lane. He'll figure it out and I believe he'll have a very good year, but Ingram to me is a better all around prospect. Not to mention what Ingram brings between the ears that people doubt with Simmons.

Remember not too long ago JC had the game winning tip in a summer league game. Hoping to see the same great things from Ingram/Zublacca.

Any word on if Ingram will be playing despite not having signed a contract yet? And what about Zubac? I know he just signed, but I don't think he's had a practice yet

I remember that JC tip in; I watched that whole game. JC showed a lot of promise; I didn't think he'd be this good or parlay it into a starting role and a $50 million dollar contract. Just crazy.

Both should be playing tonight. Zubac got his contract situation cleared and the Lakers have said Ingram will play even despite not signing his contract.

Difficult to temper my excitement but it has been a tough road the last few years. What I find encouraging is that we have young men who are serious about their careers, hungry to prove themselves and more importantly want to be with our organization.

Kudos. Also, to Drew Hanlen the guy who works with JC. Speaking of that, I wouldn't mind Ingram working out with Hanlen myself; it seemed to improve JC, and everytime I read Hanlen's remark's about JC's game and what he needs to work on, he's always given a very honest assessment. Ingram should look into him, IMO.

Good info... Not only do we have the pieces potentially but having them work with capable teachers and what not is also nice to hear. I am looking forward to how Shaw can mold our own projects in Black and Anthony Brown.

Speaking of that, here's his assessmen on JC after this season:

"He got better last year, but we want to see him get above 40 percent from three this year," Hanlen said. "We don’t think he got enough assists. We thought he was sped up at times, and we thought he was out of control at other times. So just being able to play at a controlled pace, make better decisions, make more plays and create for himself and others."

Despite being relatively old for an NBA player heading into his third season, Clarkson's manic work ethic and late introduction to the game makes improvement a virtual guarantee.

"He's a gym rat. That's one of the things I love about him," said Hanlen, who's worked with Clarkson since he transferred from the University of Tulsa to the University of Missouri.

    Accurate?

I keep reminding myself to temper my expectations. These are babies learning a new offense and defense. Having to stop and think and second guess things on both ends doesn't lend itself to ones actual talent shining through. Flashes is what we should expect to see.

    On the money...

There is a familiarity with them so that certainly helps. Great players are their own most ardent critics. On above average players of Clarkson's caliber, it is a must with someone like a Hanlen to point out weaknesses and it accelerates his development exponentially. His defensive improvement is what we all need to see the most, at least this fan does.
