I could have said the same thing Stephen A said in 5 minutes with a smile on my face and made it all a very non issue. It was drama, but funny. Felt a little too "meet me out back" though for my liking from professionals.

I'm a little curious to what SAS would do if KD made an enemy out of him. Does he have something juicy on KD or what?

I thought about that too, but no way he does that. There's no way he risks the trust of all his other contacts by leaking inside information.

The most he could do is be relentless towards him. When Durant screws up, write a huge piece on it. When Durant doesn't win again, write another piece on it. When Durant gets hurt again, call him soft and fragile. That kind of thing. That's literally the only weapon it would make sense to use.

That and maybe trying to use his connections to mess with Durant somehow. I also figure Smith thinks he has more power/influence than he actually does.

Sorry I'm 100% with SAS on this...Durant has been acting like a kid for past few years especially when pertaining to media. SAS has always had KD's back, and everything he said was absolutely true in his 20 minute tirade. When someone calls your a LIAR, that's pretty blatant and uncalled for. He had every right to shoot back at KD. KD needs to chill out. SAS did what he had to do. I don't blame him one bit for what he said. I actually applaud his response. I'm eagerly waiting KD's response now....and also, I'm eagerly awaiting his immaturity when he says he's not coming here because of what SAS speculated on...

His response tells me that someone in the KD camp DID tell him KD was eyeing the Lakers. The KD camp didn't want that to be a distraction during this season as OKC IS still his #1 choice. People have called SAS and other media members liars before. The fact that SAS went on a tirade on this occasion tells me KD's camp (not necessarily KD himself) point blank told him about his interest in the Lakers and then pulled the rug out from under him. Durant's emo response was weird and SAS response was over the top, even for him. But that show is just another in a long line of screaming talking heads disagreeing with each other for the sake of drama. It's like watching Fox News or MSNBC when they bring on two people with polar opposite viewpoints just to watch them yell at each other. It's beyond cliche at this point.

After all this, there's no way KD comes here now. He won't give SAS the luxury of saying "I told ya so". I really think we had a good shot of landing him before this mess too.

I don't think anyone with any kind of sense would miss out on millions of dollars in sponsorship and add revenue by being in the LA market revenue just to be stubborn... especially a year after this whole argument has had time to die down.

    *sigh*

This episode will have literally zero consequences on Durant's decision. He's not basing a decision so serious with so many implications on one stupid media personality. It's not happening that way. Most of us will have likely forgotten this episode by next summer.

    Wrong thread?

Could be a good comparison for Russell. I'm having a hard time placing him honestly. Lots of talent, but I'm not sure what the perfect comparison could be. Strickland is interesting.
