Clips won - barely, but still... everyone else involved in this race won too and I'd fully expect us and GSW to win our next game too. Ultimately, the only difference maker is going to be that Minny vs Pelicans game tomorrow. The Wolves will try hard to win it. Finally, the Clips should be able to play load-managing Phoenix team without too much trouble in their last game.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong..
It seems that the Lakers can still land anywhere from 6-8.
Lakers win & they're guaranteed 7th, unless GS loses, then we jump to 6th.
Lakers lose & they drop to 8th & play a road Play In game against the winner of NOLA/MINN..

    Does this sound correct..?

If Pels and Lakers win and Clips and Ws lose, all would be 43-39. That would be a disaster for the Lakers. Pels 5, Clips 6, Lakers 7, Warriors 8. Lakers would have to play the Ws in the play in.

Also, if all win but the Clips lose, that would be the absolute worst - Ws 5, Pels 6, Clips 7, Lakers 8 - Lakers against Clips for first play in.

We should be happy the Clips won. They could lose tomorrow and that would really hurt us.

Who cares about all this convoluted calculations about where we end up. Most likely we’re in the play in and have to beat a single team.

If we can’t do that, then we aren’t a contender and it’s all moot anyway.

I have a lot of faith we’ll end up 7th and draw Memphis in the first round and beat them in 6 tough games.

i'm probably more interested in terms of other teams. we're likely 7 or 8 with a game against one of gs/minny/NO and then possibly another game against one of them after that.

but the fact that NO can land anywhere from 5-9 is pretty wild. and the minute-by-minute calculus that could be involved is pretty crazy. i mean, the clips could be monitoring our game to determine what's best for them...when it's at the same start time.

Just trying to wrap my head around & understand the possibilities..
If it means nothing to you that we can either have to go win a a road play in game vs. MINN or get an immediate 7 game series vs. SAC... Then maybe this is the wrong thread for you..??

Still don't like that play-in thing but this season ending is CRAZY. I get why NBA wanted it.

The idea that this crappy Pelicans team could end up the 5th seed is ridiculous.

There is no way the Clips lose that last game against PHX D-League team, and although they have our # this season, why would they want to end up playing us in the play-in of all possibilities? The last thing they need is more games outside of the playoffs with the possibility of Kawhi getting injured.

Everyone involved is likely going to win. Well, except the Wolves-Pelicans game, since someone has to lose in basketball. Basically, we'll end up in the play-in, facing the Pelicans, or the Wolves. Which isn't bad.

Finally, every game tomorrow that matters starts at the same time. No way every team can keep an eye on everything that's happening and adjust in real time during the last 4-5 minutes of their respective games.

Yeah, I doubt the Clippers risk falling into the play-in just to try and fall to 6. Pelicans/Timberwolves is too unpredictable. I think ends up:

1 Nuggets vs. 8 Wolves (I think they ultimately get in regardless of the outcome tomorrow)
    2 Grizzlies vs. 7 Lakers
    3 Kings vs. 6 Warriors
    4 Suns vs. 5 Clippers

yeah, ultimately i land here, too. there's serious risk involved, even if the ultimate outcome is super desirable (not playing phx on the road in the first round).

my money would be on everyone winning, and probably minny taking NO. leaving us playing minny at home for the 7 seed in what should be a very competitive game.

should we lose that one, it's us vs. probably NO with extra-wild implications (NO would love to push us to the lotto for swap purposes).

Yup.. These seem like the most likely outcomes..
All depends on if LAC tries to get cute & try to avoid PHO...

If Sexton and THT play tomorrow - Bron, AD and company need to take it personally and go out to crush those two specifically.

Will Clarkson and Lauri play too?

I’m personally very nervous about a potential play-in game against the Wolves. I don’t like having to beat them in high-stakes games twice in two weeks. That McDaniels/Towns/Gobert frontcourt has so much size to bother LeBron and I don’t think Edwards plays as badly again. We’d need to play at a pretty high level to win IMO.

That was my point LF. They sat out today to play spoiler tomorrow. Though I think the owners want to tank for more ping pong balls.
