I imagine playing into overtime last night, and facing a team that had 4 days off, had something to do with it. But f*** the Clippers!!!

Not too bad a loss, except for the fact that this was the perfect rest game. Now we have no chances of getting 5th seed, which is always a positive.

Can someone explain to me why we can beat every team in the league except the Clippers?

it’s their championship. They take it pretty personal after we’ve pwned them their whole existence. Once lob city came and they got some confidence and we were bottom dwellers for a change, they stuck it to us, and it seemingly hasn’t changed.

they’re filled with shooters, wings, and play hard, consistent defense. They actually have all the pieces and the makings of a title team, but we know what their rep is like etc.

Not sure if it’s true, but we haven’t beaten them in like 12-15 straight games? Maybe more? Or like since 2017 or 2018?

Chalk it up to the laker brand, name, tradition, whatever you want to call it. These games, like tonight, is their opportunity to shine, and they love to do it against us only apparently.

it’s all mental now for the lakers with the guys too i feel at the same token. They seemingly don’t really get up to play these guys, like ever.

Hoping we can win these last two to at least cement the 7th spot with a chance at 6th if GS loses one.

Whatta screwed situation that was: Clips hadn't played a game since Sat? Our guys just came off a road trip on a BTB, last game OT, and everyone looked pretty gassed from the 1st Q. Clips shot out of their minds. I like how we battled back from 24 and cut it to 7, and the team seemed to believe they could come back to win it; too many mins expended by AD and Lebron, who should both just stay in bed all day tomorrow and sleep.

Lebron looked as tired as I've seen him in the first half. Got some adrenaline and had a decent 2nd half. We'd kill them in a playoff series. In a 7 game series it goes 5, maybe 6. We were just DOG TIRED.

Unfortunately/Fortunately I missed this one. 2 games left. We're making the playoffs, but who knows where. Might make sense to make sure we're healthy more than anything at this point. The worst we can get is 9th is we lose out. Unlikely we can move up from 7th.

But wow, the Clips have had the Lakers number for YEARS. Bizarro world.

Losing to the Clippers to knock Dillon Brooks out of the playoffs .

    I can live with that

I like the confidence but don't share the sentiment. If you lose to a team 38 times in 44 tries, something is def off.

well, for good chunks of that time period, they've been the objectively better team. add in that it's their super bowl every time they play us, and you get these results. fully expected a loss in this one. on to the next. let some other team upset the clippers, as has become tradition. really hoping they get the 5 seed, but those cowards probably tank a game to avoid phx.

any word on whether phx is playing their guys at denver tonight? would be our luck that they rest/tank the denver game and then take ours seriously. we really need to win out, otherwise, we're finishing 8th and having to play at NO for the 7 spot. NO has a weird thing going, too. herb freaking jones had 35 last night.

Lakers could still finish 9th if Sota , Pels and themselves all finish with a 42-40 record AND ONLY IF Pels lose against Knicks and win at Sota .. Unlikely as Knicks are stucked in the fifth place though .

Yeah wouldn't be surprised if Suns wanted to make our play-in path harder just for the sake of it

We probably end up #7. Which is fine with me, I'd consider it a success this season. I feel our guys were very tired last night, the energy was low, and the Clips are rested and always extra motivated against us. Realistically, we had no chance.

ok, so okc and dallas can't catch us and 9th is the floor, right?

if we win out and finish 43-39, we get 7 minimum, right (minny can't catch us, we have tiebreaker with NO)?

in a 3-way tie at 42-40 in which minny beats NO, minny gets the tiebreaker for 7th (4-2 record against the other two), but we get second (4-3 to NO's 2-5). so it would be minny 7th, us 8th, NO 9th. or am i wrong here?

so the only path to 9th is two losses. i may regret saying this, but i like our chances in the final home game against utah, so i think 8th should be the floor. but i want home court against the pels for the 7/8 game.

538 has the Lakers as favorites in both their remaining games.
Pelicans not favorites vs. the Wolves.

    1) Yes

    2) My bad I forgot one of our W against NOP

If Sota beat NOP and we all finish at 40 losses

    7th Sota : 4-2
    8th Lakers : 4-3
    9th NOP : 2-5

If NOP beat Sota but lose against NY and we all finish at 42-40

    7th Lakers : 4-3
    8th Sota : 3-3
    9th NOP : 3-4

    3) so yes you're right

if NO beats minnesota, they can't finish at 42-40, as they already have 40 losses, so it's moot.

gs/sac is a fascinating game to me. right now, they're sitting as the 3/6 matchup. if sac beats them, however, and we win both our games, i think we end up 6th (3-1 over gs in regular season, who'da thunk it).

sac could also just rest guys or not take the game seriously, as it's unlikely they catch memphis because milwaukee has the 1 locked up and thus will probably drop that game to memphis.
