Oh I have little doubt Jahlil will move more on defense in the P&G with Byron and Kobe up his butt......

I'm sure all options will be "considered" but there's no way we pass on Okafor or Towns.

Actually, I would think it would be decidedly more difficult to move with two grown men up one's anus.

Was not aware of that... You never know with the Sixers though.

yup...sixers are weird...they get rid of MCW, a rookie of the year, then eye a player just like him

unless mitch can somehow get a verbal commitment and be 100% about it from monroe, gasol, or aldridge, there is no way they can pass up on towns or okafor

if he does, i would fully expect them to draft russell #2

Of course we all hope to draft a HOF type player. That's why we all went crazy in the Lottery thread when we found out we moved up to 2.

The phrase isn't the problem, the problem is people treating hope like a sure thing. To use your post as an example, the stuff about any alternative needs to be the next Kobe/Magic/Lebron/Durant. Overvaluing picks like that is fine for a team like Philly who is going to have a high pick every year & has fans that can be sold on the dream of landing that once in a generation player. A lot of our fans aren't going to sit through another season like last, especially knowing that our pick is only top 3 protected. Priority #1 is putting a winning team on the floor this season by any means necessary.

Seriously, dating back to the 2005 draft, how many times has there been a legitimate big as a top prospect? Maybe 4 times. Lemarcus Aldridge in 2006, Greg Oden in 2008, Demarcus Cousins in 2010, and Anthony Davis in 2012.

I feel Towns and Okafor will have a bigger impact than all of them, except for maybe Davis. So I wasn't kidding when I said once or twice in a decade. This is a special draft class, and we could ill-afford to screw things up.

Well I was intrigued by this until I saw Pelton's ratings have Porzingis at 3 with a WARP score of 2, Turner at 6 and Jones at 8. Any methodology that produces those results is instantly flawed in my honest opinion.

Yeah I agree, it was just interesting to see Okafor so low and Russell so high.

I understand. And I'm not ruling out the possibility that we could end up using the pick on someone other than Okafor. I just think that player would really really really have to blow us away.

You won't find many bigger fans of Russell and his game on here than me and even I would take one of the bigs given how skilled they are.

Rondo will be a disaster for a young team. Forget his horrific shooting, terrible ft %, inability to stay on the court, bad defense last
couple years. His attitude ALONE makes him a terrible choice IMO

In addition, if the lineup is hypothetically Rondo/Clarkson/Kobe/Randle/Okafor that's going to be one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the league. Defenses will clog the paint all day long. Even if the Lakers get Towns who has a lot more range than Okafor, I don't think it works.

In order for Rondo to be successful he needs the ball in his hands and quality shooters around him at all times...he needs a lineup catered to him, and at this stage his skill level and potential attitude problems don't warrant that.

Yeah unless he's coming off the bench, there's no place for Rondo here now. We're going to build around Randle/Okafor or Towns. No need for Rondo with those two.
