Nobody has ever doubted the kid's ability to put up numbers or play a great all around. The question is does he have it between the ears? Does he have the mental makeup to be a superstar in the NBA?

I can't take this anymore, I need to hybernate until May 19th and pray to everything I believe in to lock up a top 2 pick. Please basketball Gods!!!
Ingram is one of the most unique physical profiles I've seen in a while. Long arms and legs and a small torso. If he had four extra arms he'd look a hell of a lot like a spider. For his sake, He needs to hit the gym. With that physical profile he'll never be a "big" guy, but he can at least be like Jordan Clarkson or Kevin Garnett and have a lot of wiry strength. He's going to need that at the next level. That footwork though, the skill level is absolutely there. He's my #1 pick right now and I'm starting to think he's pulling away with it a lot like Towns did last year. Simmons has a lot of holes in his game and they're all going to come out quickly in the NBA. Whatever he's doing right now, he should be in the gym with a shooting coach. He needs to take 1000 shots a day and get comfortable with it. He compares to Lamar right now, but even Lamar could shoot a little bit. Ingram meanwhile can do a little bit of everything, but he just makes all the right decisions out there. Good, good prospect.
^Ingram is a stat filler who is solid in all phases of his game. He is balanced. I agree that his ball IQ is very good. Off the court being from Duke you know he'll probably stay out of trouble like fights in the streets.
If the Lakers FO was smart (no really if that were somehow possible to finally figure out with regard to the coaching quality needed for our players) they would throw some crazy money at Kobe to be some kind of guru player development coach. Yoda. No one else in the game including MJ has "mastered" (was not just good at some and great at others) all of the needed shots, footwork and skills with the excellence of Bryant. So when he is in town there is some intense work going on with our guys learning not only the skill sets but his continuing education mentally with the young guys of what being a champion is going to require. I think Kobe is going to have a real jones going to still be around the game and enjoy that part of it. He can continue to test the players against himself in limited spurts if he's feeling healthy enough. The smack talk ..... being around the guys. His personal training programs and weight programs explained for those that dare to try to duplicate for themselves. Clarkson might. He has developed so much footwork and polished new moves going to the basket and getting his Js off this year. Do it Mitch! This would be more important to our player development even than GS getting Nash instead of us. Kobe could do things Nash never could (above the rim education for those that need it) and on his best days beat or match pretty much whatever Nash could do.
I don't think many people have the faintest idea what kind of name Kobe is going to make for himself outside of basketball. His company Kobe, Inc and the way he wants to create stories, movies, or video games he is going to find out a way to be really good at this. If you have the kind of dedication, work ethic, and all out pursuit of excellence you're going to be somebody in their industry. Kobe will leave his mark no doubt.
Lot's of people saying Buddy Hield is earning consideration for the #1 pick.. Watching Oklahoma in the tournament so far, I can see why. Good news is, if we get the 2 or 3, maybe he'll push Ingram down to us..
Totally agree.. His body looks like he's 16yrs old.. However, I remember Kobe & Durant looking like twigs when they came in the league too & they did alright.. I like Ingram.. He's also the best fit for our Team..(Assuming we don't land Durant in FA)
I mean he's never going to get much bigger than what he is now. He's not going to be a bulky kind of guy. He's going to be thin forever, but he can still get reasonably strong.
honestly, his strength didn't seem to be holding him back in the times I've seen him. he doesn't project as a pf. he's a sf. I think he can defend that spot and play that spot offensively. he can be skinny, and he can even be a little weak, so long as he can really shoot the rock.
So he supposedly is what 6'10" and 190lbs right now coming out? I just looked up what KD was coming out because he sure seemed thin at the time too. 30lbs heavier at 6'10" at least on the first draft report site I hit.
I remember the big fuss was that KD couldn't do 25 push-ups. I really don't care what a SF weighs or how many push-ups they can do. Can they put the ball in the basket? They're not centers down low pushing and grabbing. Right now, I'd rate the big 3 as: 1. Ingram 2. Buddy 3. Simmons I don't want Buddy because we're set at guard. But I do think he's a stud and will thrive in the pros, so if we had the 3rd pick and he's available, draft him and trade one of our guards.
And by trade one of our guards I assume you mean Lou? I'm good with that, guard rotation of some combo of Russ/JC/Hield looks pretty nice to me, all on cheap contracts. I think if we get the 3rd pick there are a number of guys we have to give a long look at, Hield is absolutely one, plus you look at trade options, but I don't think the 3rd pick has a lot of trade value in this draft.
