I loved his father in the 80s being a fan of all things basketball then. I won't mind using a top 3 pick on Sabonis although he is just approximately 85% of what his father was. Size and talent wise.
I'd like to see where he ends up on draft day. He was a late first rounder in terms of projections coming into this season, but some sites have him in the lottery now.
It realy is a shame that Arvydas joined the NBA past his prime and with all the injuries. Guy was a beast, one of the best and most talented euro players i have seen.
I remember a time when there was no way a thread about college talent would be on the front page of Lakers Discussion IN THE MIDDLE OF A SEASON. Sad days indeed.
I just watched brandon ingram for the first time and I must say that I was impressed. I wouldn't mind drafting him at all. He had this nice dunk in today's game. Better video: http://deadspin.com/brandon-ingram-dunks-it-over-and-through-a-pair-of-defe-1750716499
Draft Express has him going two right now. He might be able to make a push for #1 if he has a good tournament and especially if a team favors his outside shooting and defensive potential.
I think you'd be silly to pass on Ben Simmons right now, but I like Ingram a lot. He was super skinny coming out of high school, but he looks stronger now. His biomechanics are strong. I'd definitely take Ingram if we could.
I've only watched a little of sabonis, but I don't think he's big enough to play his game at the next level.
We are in full rebuild why do you think we wouldn't keep the pick? Cheap salary and the lakers will have money for a FA.
Yeah he's got big holes to his game, but the kid is being compared to LeBron James because of size, ability to get to the rim, and fantastic court vision. Simmons could honestly have better vision than D'Angelo and I don't say that lightly. The problem: he can't shoot a lick and he's got the defensive attention span of Julius Randle.
I don't think we have turned a corner or anything, we played a horrible team, a mediocre team, and a bad team whose best player is out for the season. That said, we seem to be learning to play together, we seem to be learning that we need to be a running team, and I believe Clarkson said in his post game that B0ron has finally given the team the reins more out there (if so I'd imagine instructed to do so my management). So my question is, do we start to win more games that we should win from here on out, or are we still bad enough to end up with the 2nd worst record in the league when it's all said and done? If we are going to keep that pick I think we need to be 2nd worst, because we aren't Philly bad. I'm not endorsing tanking, I want to win every game, I don't care if we lose that pick, I want our young guys to gel and grow and to look respectable to free agents as a team. I just want to know what others think here about where we will end up. If we start gelling just a little more and win games like the Minny games we should have, there are a few teams just ahead of us we could end up passing in the end. Knowing we have like 13 home games in January, a few more wins could be headed our way. So yeah, I hope this FO isn't counting on that pick, because unless we suffer injuries, with the way our guys are starting to learn to play together and with how Kobe has been playing, we are not the garbage team B0ron initially made us into.
I think we'll end up in the bottom four this season record-wise and miss the pick setting up perhaps the lowest point in franchise history.
