That's a 45 pound bar with 70 pounds on either side. It's just over half his weight. It's not very strong, but I wouldn't expect him to bench more than that. He's rail thin.
so... 185 pounds, which is, gimme a sec, 85 kg. Alright. It's not bad. @therealdeal Why do you say it's over half? It's his entire weight, basically.
What's neat is both guys (Ingram & Simmons) can play multiple positions and have unique skill-sets that suit make them very unique prospects. We're very fortunate to have an opportunity to grab one of these guys.
Thanks for that, man. First interview I've seen from Ingram; I haven't even watch his interview after his workout with the Lakers. Seems like a grounded, humble, competitive, young man. He kind of fits the mold of a Julius Randle in terms of personality. He'd fit in perfectly.
Worded that super poorly... Sorry guys. It's a 25+10 on either side = 70 pounds total. So he's lifting 115 pounds.
I'm not worried about Ingram's strength at all.. He's got really broad shoulders for his frame & will definitely grow into them. Also, skinny dudes can be deceivingly strong..
Woohwie!! Thanks realdeal. Yeah just what the doctor prescribed to relieve the stress. I think I could be happy if it winds up being Simmons. :Headbang: Speaking of Julius there giving his approval as well ..... Simmons is another lefty but would have to have a shaming effect on Randle to continue to get better with finishing with his right hand. Not a problem for Ben. At all. He's like a freaking cross between Magic Johnson and LeBron .... only taller. Great floor vision. What a load for an opposing SF to have to defend once his J picks up. Even without it with his height and blazing speed and handles.
Bench press? 115 lbs. That's... very light actually. To put it in perspective: when I started lifting weights I was very small - around 140 lbs. And I was able to press 135 (two 45s and an Olympic bar) without too much trouble. I'm quite a bit stronger now.
This kid talks about getting better, being great, being a defender, team player, getting stronger everyday, being a leader. Simmons says things like "Im the best college player" " Never mentioned how he needs to be a better shooter, better player, mentally tougher. He seems to think he's already good enough. That's what separates the two IMO. I honestly think Ingram will have the better carry assuming he's healthy.
That may be a function of his camp people (mostly manager types) advising him to make sure he is drafted #1... thus making himself and everyone else more money. Or, he could be narcissistic.
