abeer3 Holy crap I didn't even go to read it. You had me here and it 100% explains how this "blue meth" brainstorm in Ford's head ever happened. Direct empirical logic connection in his synapses somehow ..... "ford's primary source is his own anus..."
why the lakers do it: russell was really disappointing, and he's ugly and stupid. he can't shoot the skyhook, and has skinnier legs than his girlfriend. mcconnell brings the steady hand of a veteran and will provide fewer locker room distractions. plus, very thick legs. why philly does it: obviously, they'd prefer to get something other than a big bag of crap for the mcconnell trump card, but maybe russell can get it together and show some scoring and playmaking ability when he's in league with a really classy organization that understands how to develop young players (see mcconnell, tj).
It's pretty clear to me that a lot of these ESPN and other big site guys didn't watch any Laker games last season. When Stephen A and Skip discuss us they say stuff like "what do they have in LA? Nothing, the #2 pick and nothing else". Similar to Kornheiser and Wilbon. Uh, ok. Not like we didn't have guys on the all-rookie teams 2 years in a row, and another one that would have made it had he not played 15 minutes of his first season. Russ, Randle, JC, Nance, and the #2 pick is not nothing. They're in the top of their rookie classes. Ford's trade proposal is laughable, how does he still have that job?
They're just jealous because they thought Smart would be better than Randle. They were clearly mistaken.
Clarkson: 1st Team All-Rookie playing only half his rookie season Russell: 2nd Team All-Rookie, Team USA Select Team invite Randle: One of 9 players to average a double-double last season, Team USA Select Team invite Nothing. Also Nance Jr. is widely considered a steal of the draft (got a couple All-Rookie votes). Tarik Black got some All-Rookie votes in his rookie season. Nothing. Ingram: ALREADY invited to the Team USA Select Team. That's it.
This is quite funny....after the 1st la/phi matchup, a few of the sixer fans on realgm actually said dlo sucks and they didn't need him with McConnell superior game and they probably wouldn't even trade tj straight up for russell lol
Me too, but doesn't hurt to say it. Could force Simmons into a workout and it could maybe help if they were considering trading the pick.
at the risk of sounding like an arrogant, entitled laker fan, this simmons/philly thing smells a little like simmons's camp steering him towards la (or boston, i suppose). i understand philly's annoyance, too. they've done the right thing in their regime change, and they want to wash the stench off their organization as much as their prospective draftees want to be part of something good. imo, simmons to philly is a very sensible pairing. they get the big name in trying to get things back on track, he gets the chance to be the fish that saved philly. why he won't just work out for them and end it...that's odd to me. there's not that much risk in a one on none. i'm guessing this is all bs on both sides? but again, the public face of it reads that this guy doesn't want to play there.
If this workout were going to have any significant impact on your salary and living situation for the next five years, you'd play it like Simmons, too. No way I'd work out for anyone if I were him. Go first to Philly for more $, or go second to LA to be a Laker. It's all good.
Yeah, I'm good with either guy, Ingram or Simmons. Remember, we could have gotten the 3rd pick or lost it, and the C Bags could be getting one of these guys.
Same here. I love Simmons' size. He could play the 4 or 5 in today's league, IMO. Easily. Good frame, too.
