I dunno man, the Sixers have a Colangelo running things now, not an idiot. If Ingram proves his skill in workouts and impresses in interviews, I can't see why he wouldn't go #1 over a guy who has disappeared into a cave or something for the draft process.

But if Simmons wants to be a Laker so damned bad I think he's making a mistake in not working out for anyone. Who gives a s*** what Philly thinks of it his camp is thinking but I don't know how that plays with a storied organization like the Lakers, especially with what they demonstrated they were capable of doing last year. It's pretty arrogant of him to assume they have no other options. Like maybe trading him at 2 for an established player possibly in some frigid east coast town rather than cow towing and bringing him to sunny so cal. Devil's advocating there.

Luke can make Simmons work for us even without a J....Simmons is what luke was as a player but 10x the athlete and talent

It doesn't really matter. Either way we're getting a great prospect, but yeah it'd be smart to not get to invested in either guy.

That speculation on Twitter was LITERALLY speculation on Twitter.

    1. Ingram had a workout and dinner with Philly.
    2. Simmons isn't scheduled to workout with anyone as of yet.
    3. Thus, the Sixers are now leaning towards drafting Ingram.

Seriously that was the logic of the speculative bull**** piece from some stupid hack on Twitter. Journalism. Yeesh.

Even without a workout Colangelo would be commiting PR suicide if he doesnt take Simmons. Even if Simmons turns out to be a bust Colangelo could always spin it as in "everyone thought Simmons was a great talent and clear #1 at the time". He wont be able to use that excuse if he takes Ingram and he doesnt pan out

I don't know, I think Simmons is so invisible right now that Philly could easily sell people on Ingram being the top prospect. He's been working out for teams, and multiple articles now have called Ingram the top prospect. You could say you can't pass on Simmons, but that's what a lot of people said about Oden, when a lot of people saw Durant becoming a superstar with how he dominated in his one year of college. You can easily sell your franchise on "we saw the next Durant in Ingram, and we didn't see anything in Simmons because refused to do private workouts". Simmons and Ingram are supposed to be LeBron and Durant light, but that seems to be mostly media hype on Simmons' end. All that said, I'd be thrilled with getting either player still, just saying Philly has a tougher decision here than I think people are letting on.

ingram/durant is as much media hype as simmons/lebron. simmons will probably work out. i think towns held out for a long time, then only worked out for minny. expect simmons to wait, then work out for only philly, then be selected #1.

I think Mitch should tell Simmons's agent (that just looks weird trodgers :p) the Lakers have never taken a player in the draft that refused to work out for them, point blank. Too important a decision for the franchise. Then we'll see how motivated he becomes whether he works out for Philly or not. Not a good look for him though to continue to refuse if he really wants to be here. Whether crappy look to the rest of pro basketball or not if he doesn't do same for Philly.

-Goes over Ingram and Simmons as well as a handful of others. This is the guy who does all the breakdown videos for DE right now. He sounds extremely high on Ingram.
-He likes Bender too for his versatility, but doesn't see "star" in him. More of a role player type.
-Chriss is an explosive leaper and has developed into a good shooter.
-Dunn has all the physical tools and is already an elite defensive prospect.
-Not as high on Hield actually, but appreciates some of his tools/work ethic.
-Jaylen Brown is a physical monster. Decision making and shooting are big question marks. He compares him UNfavorably to Justice and Stan Johnson.
---The two of them see some dominant physical potential, but it's a question about his mentality. Could be Butler or could be Kidd-Gilchrist.
-Murray is a great shooter with great scoring instincts (likes him > or = to Hield). Physically limited. Some CJ McCollum upside.

LOL. "The Sixers, as is expected, continue to keep things close to the chest, and Colangelo has spoken publicly multiple times about the merits of taking Simmons." No they don't, not like the Lakers who haven't said squat about the 1st workout he had here. The article gets out with info that Embiid, Okafor and Covington, as well as coach Brown (that knows Simmons from Australia) ....AND media members.....watched the workout.

And then, "The tide could be turning away from the 6-foot-10, gifted ball-handled and scorer to Ingram, who is a talented shooter whom Brown described Monday as being "silky smooth, fluid." And, "Ingram, according to NJ.com's Elliot Shorr-Parks, said the thing that separates him from other top prospects is his "mental toughness."

Veerry secretive of them with the whole process. Maybe they're just trying to tweak Simmons's pride about maybe not going number one anyway in their eyes, since they can't see him workout and Ingram looks so good. Then again maybe this is exactly what Simmons's camp wants. But he's playing a dangerous game with regards to what he wants if he doesn't work out for the Lakers.

So we either get "our" guy in Ingram, or we settle for Simmons. Not bad.

Only if we trade down lol, but we can't trade this year's pick. We'd have to select and then trade.

Sounds like there will be aggressive trade activity this year, so you never know.
