Knowing someone is a good athlete isn't a gray area judgement. It's black or white. You either are or not. For example, Shannon Brown is very athletic. Luke Walton isn't. Boom. It's that simple.

Was Ron Artest athletic? Jason Kidd? Kareem Abdul Jabber? Magic?

Are those trick questions? You answered your own questions by picking 4 players that weren't that athletic. Ron had a vertical of 2 inches. Jason, 2. Mag, 1. And Kareem was one of those things car dealerships use to attract people. Those tall , skinny, wind floppers. I dont know what theyre called.

I would say they all are. High flying crazy dunkers? no. But I think they're athletic in different ways. I don't think it's as cut and dry as you make it sound. Probably a discussion for a different thread, but it's interesting to me.

Are you seriously trying to argue that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson weren't athletic? That's just... so incorrect. Not to mention Jason Kidd who was ridiculously athletic before his injuries. Artest was easily the least athletic of the group, but he's still very athletic. He has some of the fastest hands I've ever seen in the league. Hand and foot speed are athletic attributes.

My thinking too. Foot speed is an athletic attribute. You play defense with your feet. he was an elite defender. Maybe top 10 all time. But he's not athletic ?

I just think there is a lot more to athleticism than jumping, dunking, and breaking someone's ankles.

I think someone is confusing "Quick" & "Agile" with "Athletic"...
